Not sure what to do right now...

Ok guys, I just traded in my 2014 Silverado that I always thought was a truck built after noon on a Friday. It was a first month production truck and I should have known better. It wasn't a bad truck, but just had a bunch of little issues that made me happy to see her go.

So, I have always been a GM fan and figured I'd get a 15 since they should have the bugs out of them now. Yes, I bought a 6.2 with the 8 speed, but from my understanding, trucks produced after Jan/Feb had all the updates from the factory and shouldn't have issues.

Well, 2nd day of owning it, with 69 miles on the clock, I put it in reverse to back out and it tacked to about 2k RPM then Clunked hard , lurching in reverse. Thought..."OK maybe I failed to put it in reverse all the way?" So put it in drive and it tacked all the way up past 3k rpm and moved about 3 mph. Let off and it did it again. So I put it in park, back into drive and it has been fine today...Kind of.

I live in a rural area and never got the truck up to mid 70's when I purchased it, until today. Honestly besides the trans, this truck feels and rides so much better then my 14 I was blown away and happy. That is, until I hit about 73 mph; this thing started to vibrate like crazy!

I do NOT have time for this truck to be in the shop constantly, I work enough as it is and have a little one. Honestly wishing I had gone with the Ford or RAM this time around.

What are my options here? Try to get it fixed and if it isn't open a lemon law case? Opinions please as I want to enjoy my new truck.

Take it to the dealer and take a drive with them. Get it up to speed, let them experience the vibration. Let them go from there. Insist on a loaner vehicle while they are looking on yours.

Don't know how realistic this idea is but I would try to return it my hardest. Can't believe the vibration issues carried over to the 2015. Where is the vibration felt? I have slight vibration issue that can be seen in the center console but not felt through the vehicle. Makes a bottle water move around, how significant is the vibration? Like I said, in a perfect world, I would return it or weed through the dealerships inventory til I found one that doesn't have the vibration issue. Given the history of 2014s why would you not test it over 70 mph?

Well I am taking it in Thursday and they offered to take my truck back and find something else on the lot but at this point I don't want a 5.3 nor another Silverado honestly. As to why not drove it over 70? My 14 drove smooth and the closest highway from the dealer is half hr. Away. I drove it around 65 in a 55 for a bit and it was smooth I just didn't realize that 72-73 was where things start to happen. It shakes the steering wheel a bit and the whole truck really. Could feel it in my seat and my water bottle was shaking pretty well.

Also, I can live with the trans for now. I understand it's a new design that will have some new calibrations and fixes for it. But what I can't live with is a truck that shakes every time I go on a trip and take it on the highway. Maybe they will scrap the shitty stock tires for me and everything will work out. I just really don't have the time to waste at a dealership right now.

i had an 07 with a bunch of issues, dumped and moved to ford for the next two trucks and was happy. came back to chevy last year with a 14. Sometimes for sanity sake you just have to leave it.

Start with the basics first, have the dealer check and or road force balance the tires first. Could have thrown a wheel weight which could be causing the issue. Then go from there, GM has a very specific vibration process that can locate vibrations and get them resolved as long as the dealer will follow the process.

I know it's a little late, but absolutely no one should buy a 2014 or 2015 Silverado without taking it down the highway at 70+ miles per hour to check for vibrations. It's obvious that GM hasn't addressed these issues with the 2015 models. Yes, some dealers can isolate and fix the issues, but many dealers don't have the tools or patience to quickly and effectively address the problem(s). If you don't want to buy a vibrator or clunker, be sure you test drive at many different speeds and scenarios.

Lesson learned and from what they are telling me I'm stuck with this truck or another Silverado. No one in a 300 miles radius even has a similar truck as mine either and I don't want a 5.3...so guess I get to play the game.

I'm really hoping things work out but at this point I don't even want my "new" truck.

Why not see if you can get a Colorado out of it with all the bells and whistles. But then again they may have issues also. Haven't researched them much but they are sharp

I don't see how you can be stuck with a truck when it is that new. The dealership doesn't have a "return" policy that let's people return them inside a specific time, and just pay a bit for mileage?

One additional thing to consider...Dealers have limited/to no authority to make repairs that don't fit GM identified issues. Some things they refuse to recognize as a problem so won't authorize repair. I have a 2014 6 speed with 6.2 and my clunk has been deemed normal. As well they refuse to acknowledge transmission issues-slipped shifting, hard downshifts, etc. they want to "kick the can down the road".

A GM Intellilink update corrupted my system and they won't fix that either. I have been surprised by a lack of ethics and fairness by GM and maybe it's just the District Manager. I have a Better Business Bureau case open and was offered $1000 to settle with the comment that GM almost always prevails. You should take this generous offer, ha ha! Kind of funny since the decision maker has no clue as to my documentation including pics and video. In my case they thought they could use the bully technique along with" they all do it, operating as designed".

So....don't be surprised if things don't go the way you might logically expect. They still have much of the old GM inbred that resulted in the safety issues of the recent past.

Damn, it has to be frustrating to trade in one problem truck and get another with problems too ! My thinking would be to insist on another truck. The vibration should be a quick check to see if it's something simple they can find and fix, but the tranny thing sounds messed up. If you're going to try to return the truck, do it quick. I believe most states give you 3 days to legally back out on something like this.

My question though. Has this truck even been in the shop to be looked at? I mean without having it looked at how can one say well this truck sucks I want to get rid of it? Maybe it just needs an allingment, balance etc.

I purchased it Saturday and have 190 miles on it. Picked it up with 22 miles on it. I live just over an hour from the dealer and work 12 hr. Days. It's extremely hard for me to even get down there during their business hours but I am taking it in tomorrow. We'll see what happens, I just know from reading on here these issues can be long drawn out and not fixed the first time.
