2015 silverado changes corsa sound???

so i started a thread in the general performance section. someone had mentioned this year truck may effect the sound of the corsa muffler!!?? is this true?

i installed a corsa sport muffler (brand new) and i had them remove the rear resonator. they did however keep the flapper mechanism becuase i thought it was needed for the v4 drone reduction.

upon initial start up i was shocked it was so quiet!!!

i drove it home 20 miles or so highway and city. under heavy acceleration it sounds a little more deeper than stock maybe a little performance tone.

is this it?! or does this muffler take time to break in?

Where did you find just a corsa sport muffler? Reason being, I didn't think they sold just the muffler.. It should be quite a bit more aggressive than stock, especially with the resonator removed.

there was a dealership local to me and the parts dept. had one muffler new on the shelf....no piping just the muffler. they wanted it gone so i made them an offer and he took it!

the box had a part number on it. said corsa sport on it

What size is your Corsa sport muffler?

And it is so quiet at start up because you kept the flapper valve. There is no "break-in" for mufflers, but the flapper valve does two things, prevent drone by diverting exhaust via a smaller tube, keeping the exhaust quiet during start up. You can either go back and have it removed, or clamp the flapper valve open. Some members have done this as a "free mod"

Also, I know Corsa sells tips individually. But I was not aware that they sold mufflers as well. Take a picture of your muffler and try to verify its authenticity.

Also, I know fondupot on here had one of the first Corsa cat-backs on his truck. He later contacted Corsa (or vice versa) and found out they had a quieter muffler out now for the cat-back systems they sold for our trucks. He bought the new muffler from them directly and had the original one replaced. Something similar could of happened at the dealer.

Like I said in your other post you made about the same thing. Clamp open your flapper and test it that way. I know without doing that to mine I could barely hear it unless I stomped on it.

okay everyone thanks for the response!

i clamped the valve open and i did notice a slightly louder note. not aggressive!!

ill try to take a video if i can figure it out!

i know 100% that this is authentic corsa! the box is stamped and all that. ive owned a touring in the past maybe 7 years ago

the dealer had this on the shelf i dont know the story but i guess they used the piping but did not use the tip or muffler on a truck they did work on for some reason.....

the parts manager did not know what he had and i took full advantage of the opportunity since i knew corsa did not sell mufflers alone!!

i got the tip and muffler new never used no scratches or dents for $250.00!! i thought this was a screamin deal!!

I thought the corsa sport wasn't very loud to begin with? That combined with the fact that our trucks run quiet due to the 3rd cat would probably explain the volume you're getting out of it. In my opinion you should be happy its not too loud, when it kicks into v4 on the highway you will regret a loud muffler.

I still left the 3rd cat on mine on and just had them remove everything from the muffler back. With a Flowmaster Super 44 single in/dual out the truck is very loud. I've read on here that I believe removing the 3rd cat doesn't really change the sound or loudness. I may have it removed later on since it's just for Cali, but not in a hurry.

Flowmaster 44 is a very aggressive muffler. Corsa touring is a completely different sound.

I know but you said these trucks run quiet because of the 3rd cat and I was making the point that the 3rd cat isn't what makes these trucks quiet. Maybe if he removed the 3rd cat he would notice a change a lot easier with having a mild muffler than with me having an aggressive muffler.

well i didnt want this truck to be oud and aggressive like a flowmaster 44....

i just thought this would sound a little louder than it actually does!

One other thing to note is our trucks have a quiet interior, so even though its fairly quiet inside it might be louder outside. Try making a video and see what you think.
