New BDS lift now stabilitrack is coming on

I picked it up from the shop drove home 20 miles on stock wheels tires and no issues. The next day the tires went on and the alignment done. Since the tires and alignment I get the stabilitrack light on turns occasionally.

Is it possible the tire size needs to be calibrated to the truck? Not sure if this will cause the stabilitrak light to come on but in my 02 it causes my abs and e brake light to come on

OP says he is running stock size tires, so should be no errors with stabilitrak. As long as the new ties size is no more than 1" taller/shorter than the stock size you should not have any issues with the ABS/stabilitrak/TC system.

Yes when the lift was done I drove home 25 miles with stock wheels and stock tires with no stabilitrack lights. Next day alignment and 35x12.5 tires where put on. The stabilitrack light came on once that 1st day and came on once this morning. I have not gotten a programmer yet to adjust tire size. Stock was 32" now 35"

I figured its not the lift since there were no lights coming on the first day. It has to be the tires or alignment

ok, I missed that. It is definitely the tires causing the issue then. Wont go away until you change tire size.

I called BDS and they said need to fix tire size but also the steering wheel position sensor and yaw sensor need to set to 0. They said dealer or some shops can do it. I know the dealer will not do the tire size so doubt they will do anything to the steering sensor. I am thinking it may be just tire size since there were no issues with stabilitrack when stock size was on. I looked at the alignment sheet and they didn't adjust much camber was the only thing they needed to adjust. I know the truck is moving faster than the speedo actually is reading which is probably telling the computer a wheel is slipping

Dealer won't calibrate for tire size? First I've ever heard this. BDS lifts are covered under factory GM warranty as well (through a certified installer)

Dealer only will calibrate for tires sizes that came from GM.

On the K2xx series trucks that use the new GM global computer systems the dealer can no longer change the tires size in the computer. Every tire size GM uses on the trucks now is the same overall circumference across the board, so with that as long as you run one of the stock sizes the speedo and odometer will be close to accurate. Change sizes though and you will be force to use some sort of aftermarket product to change the tire size in the computer which technically could put you in a position to have warranty work denied if the dealer is lazy and wants to take the easy way out.

I got a programmer and changed my tire size but it didn't stop my stabilitrack from engaging in turns. Im getting frustrated since BDS advertises their kit works on stabilitrack trucks?

    • This is a really late reply but I just found this thread. They won't sell the hinges. I've gone 7 rounds with them. Their solution is to buy a new cover. I'm about to buy a new cover and it won't be a Bakflip. It also won't be from realtruck.com.
    • Yes, and also pulling heavy trailers or a large camper up steep grades as well as descending grades such as the more rustic off road camping locations and using engine braking with that low gearing as well as soft ground can just suck the power . I realize pickups these days tend to have an over all lower first gear ratio compared to automatic transmission pickups from years back so that has helped a lot in its ability in high range but there comes a point if in four wheel drive the torque runs out at the wheels, certainly with a gas engine. They don't put two speed transfer cases on pickups for a cool factor, they have a function if one needs that massive torque to the wheels that high range can't deliver.
    • Notes 7/18/2026   3,400 miles on this batch of Mobil 1 Euro 5W40 since the GDI pump replacement. Alcohol runs very clean when ring seal is tight and the sump isn't getting hosed with fuel. Checked oil level at fill up today as is my practice and grabbed a white Kleenex to look at the color. What color?  I was going to change it but.....
    • 4 low is really nice on steep boat ramps.
    • Interesting, I suspect I would have fueled up in Lee Vining as the day prior I would have filled up either in Laughlin or near there and maybe again before I entered Death Valley and once out the other side late that evening as I kept on driving into the night up near Lee Vining. Next morning I most likely fueled up in LV before heading over Tioga Pass into ( as I refer to it as "Yose .... Mite" 😁 ). And again that was 19 years ago but the price then must not have jumped out at me like the 5 bill a gallon theme of nutty cult hippy country Big Sir or head so far up their rear Aspen. I'd be curious to know where the highest prices are in the lower 48, I probably would not be far off to guess somewhere in Cali forn ie. Coldfoot and Prudhoe bay may have those prices beat but that is a whole other world up there and when prices are more normal elsewhere that is about what they can be up there I believe in no mans land. Anyway interesting that the 395 corridor is hosing people and the thing is, its tourist season and its not like there are a lot of competition options when driving up that highway from what I could see. Yup, big ole Boaterhomes and various other RV's ahead and behind me at the Yosemite entrance gate and they have to get their fuel somewhere.
