Vibration and Poor Headlights - info

Just want to throw out some info for those concerned. I have a 2014 Sierra 4x4 crewcab SLT that had poor headlights and vibration issues.

Headlights - the dealership reprogrammed the BCM for a higher voltage at the headlights and replaced the headlight bulbs with Part # 23342527 as per PIT5374A.

I live in a dark rural area and It made all the difference. I can now see way down the road and to the sides. No more trouble cornering or finding driveways, and I can see the wildlife on the sides of the road in plenty of time to avoid problems. I'm really happy about the results and I'd say it compares pretty favorably with the lights in my Lincoln. Under warranty at no cost and no hassle.

Vibration - The truck has a vibration at around 70 kph (45 mph) and again around 130 kph (80 mph). When I first complained, the truck had winter tires on it. The dealership balanced the tires but it didnt fix the problem so they suggested waiting until I put the summer tires on. Well, ok. Summer tires on and balanced and the vibration was still there. I took the truck in today and they said one rear axle is bad so they will replace both rear axles "just in case". The parts are on order and should be here in a few days so we'll see if that cures the problem. In the meantime I'm driving the truck. I cant help but wonder if a faulty ring gear could telegraph a vibration and make it seem the axle is bad.

Keep us up dated as a Canadian as well we may have more difficulty with GM Canada. Just waiting for more Kms (4000) to take my 2015 sierra crew in for the following

1. Vibration at most speeds but worse from 110-130km really hate highway driving this thing but if you need to mix a drink all is good. my company GMC 2500 van rides better and smoother.

2. driver seat has the nice shift side to side when turning good it you like amusement rides

3. Head lights I can live with but I will push for the fix if it is an improvement. don't do much night driving so this is ok so far

Debating on keeping this until next year and just live with the issues and trade it in or try and have them fixed. from what I have been reading the vibration and seat are a hit and mostly miss fixes. I regret selling my 2002 avalanche for this truck good thing we only use our 2 personal vehicle on weekends.

As for GM Canada and local Calgary dealer not named but any one from Calgary can figure it out you can check this out on the Cadillac forums...

Update:

The headlight issue is resolved. The lights are good now.

As for the vibration: the axles arrived and I received a call to take the truck in on June 8. Axles replaced but there was still some high-speed (130kph/80mph) vibration and they said they were not happy with one of the axles. Ordered another axle and installed it on June 15. That cured the high-speed vibration. They said there was still a low speed (70kph/40mph) vibration felt in the steering wheel. June 16 they contacted GM Engineering for help. June 17 they are still waiting for a response.

Weeks ago, when I went for the initial ride with the service manager to let him feel the vibrations, he rejected the idea that it could be anything to do with the rear end. Yesterday when I brought up the possibility of the ring gear being out of tolerance he said it wasnt that because the vibration is in the steering.

They've had the truck for 9 days this time, but at least they rented a Budget SUV for me and they're picking up the tab.

Update:

June 17: The dealership just called. GM Engineering has suggested that the dealership should replace the innards of the differential. Parts on order. Truck should be ready June 22.
