bank 1 O2 sensor

2006 Chevy 1500 extended cab 5.3 v8

 

The orginal bank 1 O2 sensor went at 130.000 miles. That was last month, i have replaced it 3 times already and it went out again this morning. The code reader at O Rieleys sayt that its the heater in the sensor thats failing. My question is: Is there anything wrong with my truck that would be buring up the heater element in the O2 sensor. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Did you consider that maybe it is not the heater but the power or ground wires for the heater?

Electricity can definitely cause some issues along the way. Check wiring! I have a headlight on my Traverse that is doing the same thing. Bulb keeps going out, and it's the same one every time. There's a "bad" wire somewhere.

If the bulb keeps burning out that is not likely in the wiring, but more likely in the charging system, or headlight assembly is loose allowing the bulb to "rattle" around. If it is not burning out, then check the connection for melted parts.

The bulb is burning out. And I've tried 3 different brands, and it's always the same side. I need to look into the bulb harness, I suspect something is loose. I keep forgetting to look at it until it's 11:00pm, and my wife needs the car right away in the morning. I hardly drive it, so I kinda forget some of the maintenance items. I don't notice the assembly being loose, but perhaps something is rattling causing the bulb to go out.

I did not have a chance to look at it yet, was waiting for some hints from you guys. I think I'm going to return the sensor from O Rieleys and go get a OEM part from GM.

Double check the battery voltage at two thousand rpm and make sure it is not over 15v. Also double check the that the headlight housing is not loose.

 

I had a similar experience years ago in regards to fixing a blown headlight. The only time I would notice and remember was coming home from work. Next morning, no need for headlights, and I would simply forget all about it, till 6pm, on the way home.

They may give you a hard time returning it. Most auto parts vendors do not give refund on electrical parts.
