Radio Volume Issues

I'm having the same issue with my 2017 Silverado custom. It's going to the dealership next week to have the recall fixed and are going to look at the radio as well. I'm hoping to get an answer as to why its happening. I will update with an answer if I get one. If you find out what is causing the problem with the volume please let me know.

My 2015 just last week started to change the radio station on its own. Pauses live radio, or just skips back a min or so in the broadcast. And when this happens the speedometer switches to the radio display. I have a video but am not sure how to post it.

Just had the issue with the volume going down all the way on its own. After reading all the posts here played with the steering wheel volume control by punching the buttons. That did the trick for me; something must have gotten stuck there.

2018 Silverado 1500k doing the same thing. Anyone find a fix? I have an appt with the dealer on Tuesday, but if I can fix it myself, I'd rather not waste my time.

I have the same exact problem on my '17 Sierra Elevation Edition.  Max volume seems to be around 35 or 40.  The volume decreases above 40.   Its annoying not being able to hear the radio if its raining or passing a semi on the interstate.

Sounds to me like you need your HMI updated to latest spec, pretty common, kind of annoying to do because it ties up the stall for a while programming.

Just had this problem with my 17 Silverado. The volume wasn’t working properly I would turn it up to 60 and it would actually turn the volume down. Very simple fix my fellow bow tie fans, unhook the negative on your battery and let it reset for about a minute or two then throw it back on it will reset the system. Good luck guys

I was having problems with the volume control buttons and volume knob on my 2014 Yukon.  The manual and online were no help.  I went into the Auto Volume menu and tried the buttons and knob there and they worked.  When I backed out to a radio station they still worked.  May not continue, but the volume controls are working right now.

This happened to me last week, I have a 2015 2500 diesel, my truck had been sitting for two weeks, I started it and drove it only two minutes then rolled down the windows and listened to the radio.  After 1+ hours the radio went to max, I turned it down and within 5 minutes it did it again, at that point it wouldn't turn down any more so I just shut it off.  An hour later when I went to start the truck it turned over slow like the batteries were drained.  I had the batteries and alternator check out and all were good.  So I think in my case, the radio going to max volume is an indicator telling you the batteries are starting to drain to low.  I did drive the truck for several miles after this happened to charge the batteries back up and the radio has worked fine ever since.

Anything that's wrong with chevy trucks between 2014-19 is "normal"

Although I did get my screen replaced and has seamed to fix my issues ( not same as your issues) but mine would change stations, switch to gps on its own( sometimes 20-30 times in a 20 minutes drive)

Could be a bad screen?

I had this exact issue pulled infotainment fuse on passenger side. Fuse was fine turned it around and this fixed the problem immediately.

I’m having the same issue came out the store radio kept going full blast read some comments about the steering wheel buttons if I turned it down with the knob and held the volume button on the steering wheel it would fight it self lol but stayed so while holding the down button on the steering wheel I pressed the up button at the same time and now it’s fine
