Vehicle holster?

i know this is kinda old but you have to check with local laws. i just found out in TX that you can not have your gun out in the open in your truck unless you have a permit to carry. once you get the permit you can mount it where every you want. but no permit the gun MUST be out of sight. kinda stupid but thats just how this state is

You can't have the gun laying around in the open, period. It has to be on a belt or shoulder holster to be legally open carried.

No, in TX if you have a carry permit you gun can be mounted in the open in your truck. Sorry I did not say just laying around. It has to be mounted. There is a mount out now that I just ordered its basically an acrylic rod in 9mm on a locking swivel. It's 2 or 3 screws can't remember but your gun slides into it.

A CHL holder in Harris County was just charged for illegal open carrying because the gun was in his cup holder. You might want to investigate before you start carrying this way.

"Just letting y'all know that I believe that the first arrest of a LTC holder for unlawful carrying a visible handgun by a license holder has been made in Harris County. The arrest was made by the South Houston Police Department last week. The charging instrument says that the license holder was carrying a visible handgun in his car but it was not being carried in a belt or shoulder holster. I believe the police alleged that the handgun was being carried in the cup holder not in a holster. Harris County DA filed a class A misdemeanor charge based on this arrest."

The law state belt or shoulder holster, AFAIK.

While in Ga if you are not a restricted person you can have it anywhere in your vehicle permit or not.

GeogriaBll that's the one I ordered. And foo.c when did that happen? The sherif I know here and the ltc instructor both said that the new open carry will permit this.

I would never use anything like that. You are putting a metal rod into the barrel of your loaded firearm. If for whatever reason that safety becomes disengaged and the trigger pulled while on this thing, that bullet is going to make contact with that rod and a massive explosion (for a lack of a better word) is going to occur. Hopefully the owners legs won't be near it when that happens.

Your theory of the safety disengaging and the trigger pulling all on it's own will never happen, it's not possible, can't be done.

I do agree with the bad idea of having any type of metal jammed in the barrel. Any way you look at it, a pistol that is not on your person is not secure period. I have seen this stuff happen at least 100 times. The firearm does not and will not stay connected to any type of mounted vehicle holster if there were an accident. If someone wants to be irresponsible and continue to carry a firearm that way, just be prepared for the consequences of your actions if something were to go wrong.
