2015 overly loud door ding noise.

Does anyone know how to turn down the door ding ring noise on the new trucks or has anyone already located the source and taken care of it? I'm about to rip open the dash with a hatchet!

I have not tracked the speaker down yet; seems to be lower side of dash on driver's side; somewhere near the fuse block maybe? I've been contemplating looking for it and putting a piece of tape or cardboard over it to muffle it some.

The volume control for it in the setup screen through the radio has ZERO effect on it.

Mine is the same way, very loud. I think it is coming out of the front dash speaker but I could be wrong. I also have turned down the chime volume in the DIC with no luck.

I seem to recall it getting louder when I bent down though; maybe the door speaker? That would really suck as it means there's no easy way muffle or disable it. Some times I do miss the days of simple cars, no computers getting in the way of things.

I don't know what the chime volume setting is actually meant to adjust, it doesn't change the turn signal volume either.

The one thing I'd really like fixed regarding the key in ignition door open chime: if the ignition switch is in the Run position, it should not chime! As in I stop to get gas, turn engine off, turn key back to run position so I can write down engine hours and clear trip in DIC, and open the door, the damn thing shouldn't be going off!

As many times as I go through my day having to many things going on I understand the chime function. That is it keeps me from walking off and leaving my keys in the truck. We always want a convenient function and then gripe after we get it.

We always want a convenient function

I respectfully disagree. Not 'everyone' wants all of these features. I'd be much happier with A: a less expensive no nonsense truck or B: the ability to enable/disable features as I wish. Yes, I agree those are two opposing options. Option B would likely increase costs.

Well maybe I just don't understand the inconvenience. I have never found myself in a situation where the door ding has become inconvenient. I either remove the key or roll window down if listening to music. But it doesn't matter what I think anyways as it is your experience and your truck. You should jimmy-up something that holds the door button in and problem will be solved.

Actually the solution is already part of the truck; it just doesn't work.

@ord: please don't project your use case on the rest of the world. ;)

I think it comes out of the speakers doesn't it? Mine isn't that loud, but I think it changes depending on how high I have my volume set. If I lower the radio volume it doesn't chime very loud at all.

Well, I have been told that I could hear a gnat fart in Guam from the hearing specialist that I have to go to every year. So maybe it's more than overly loud to me. I will do us all a favor and spend a few hours and find this thing, in a couple of weeks when I'm on vacation.

Found it! Drivers side door I'll be checking to see if it has extra wires for this or if it is a stand alone ding box

If it is like the 07 I had it will be the driver door speaker. It went out. I couldn't have been happier.

Pretty sure its controlled by the radio and comes out of the speaker

I've had my door panel off and didn't notice any separate speaker or module.
