My link System

First off I am not whining I just want to make sure I am not having more than usual difficulties with the mylink system.

I have had a lock up of my touch screen now a couple times. Can't do anything with the system until I shut truck off open door and restart truck. This completely restarts the radio system. I also tried to hold the power button to see if it would manually restart while driving and it would not. I got a clock on the screen when it shut down. Then could not get it to turn the radio on until I pulled over on the highway. System is very disappointing as many others have stated but I was not able to find anything on system lockup. Called my soon to be not dealer and well the same as usual They want me to bring it in so they can check for codes. Really? If a code was set for this issue I am sure the informant centre would have a message. Is it even possible for the radio to set a code? I am not going to deny the possibility, it does notify me of my trailer brakes needing servicing as well. Like others, Love the truck but the radio blows other than the sound for me. GM should be liable to update this system. I have not found any great reviews about it really. Just people calling people whiners when they are not happy with the 3k radio in the dash of their truck.

I was using Nav on the highway and switched over to change the radio station and it locked up the last time. Can't remember the other times it has locked up but I can't duplicate it. Takes forever and a day for the system to load the maps then if I speech the address I have to call onstar to load my destination because I just don't have the patience, and I am very patient I feel. Not a one time deal either. The voice recognition does not understand what I say or any of the passengers in the vehicle for navigation.

Going into reverse the camera works fine but it takes approx 5 seconds for it to switch off once put into gear. Lots of times I have noticed scrambled screen as well while switching back to drive. I think I need a new module or head unit or software update....not sure how this system is configured. Going to stop by the dealer tomorrow so they can check for codes in the mean time as requested.

I agree, it is disappointing. I have had it fail to turn the screen on 3 times and fail to turn off once. Not sure on the codes. Mine has been updated once, but after the last fail to turn on then fail to turn off they could not do anything. Why can't they at least make the power button work, it is not practical to pull over and shut the truck off to get this to reset.

Also had something weird last week. Truck was off for a while and I opened the passenger door. The screen backlight turned on the the radio played static for a second.

I have also been getting a message about not taking my eyes off the road about once a month. Funny part is you can only confirm it on the radio screen and I almost drove off the road trying to get the OK button so the radio would work.

Good luck with the dealer. I hope they can come up with something.

That sounds horrible. I don't think that kind of concern could be considered whining. I would be pissed if mine ever did this. I think the problem with the mylink system is lack of memory. It seems to be attempting to complete to many tasks all at once. The only problem I've had with mine is the Hard drive I use to store my music stopped being recognized from the USB ports inside console. I took the truck to dealership and they reinstalled software and now works fine. Hope you figure out your issue and if need be force the dealership to replace head unit.

Decided to contact the infotainment department through onstar today and they had me shut the radio down and supposedly they updated the software. Sure hope so as I don't know what the old version was but he said it took. Could take a while to determine if what they did fixed my problem but as soon as I told him what was going on he wanted the radio turned off so they could update it. Satellite service is pretty cool now a days with all the technology available. Much better than letting the dealer look for a code and waste time.

I agree with you, my intelilink is kinda sketchy as well, as you said slow to come out of reverse camera and has failed to go into camera mode a few times, I once had it lock up, in all broken up/pixelated screen and stayed like that for more than 30 minutes, I even stopped and turned truck off twice, only after shutting down and letting it sit for about 15-20 minutes did it go back to normal.

Since the update I have noticed the rear camera is not as bright. Starting to get use to it now though. I have had a rear camera service required and a front camera service required. Not other warnings since. I am sure there will be a code generated from this I hope. My last truck was an Avalanche that was an electrical lemon. Starting to look repetitive and not impressed.
