Huh Battery Voltage 27.4 v????

Daaa I know there is no such thing as a stupid question but....

 

What is the voltage of our batteries supposed to be?

Do we have a 12 Volt or 24 volt battery?

 

I have a 2015 Denali CC and I just put a meter on my battery and it is pushing out 27.4 volts - with no engine on.

 

Shouldn't our batteries be in the 14.5 volt range?

Battery should be in the 12vdc range while off. Variable regulater charge 13-18 Vdc while running. Not possible for a 12 Vdc battery with no alternator running to show that much. It would be cooking.

My mistake...

it helps when you set your multimeter to the proper DC volts... it reads at 12.5 - All good.
