motor seems to turn faster than my 99 did

this one is a 2000 sierra 1500 with 5.3 with 105,000 miles on it

warmed up and on the high way is 70 mph at 2000 rpm on the money

any 2000 mod owners out there with some help would be much appreciated

Rear end gear ratio's are probably different.  3.73's vs 4.10's.

Check the glove box for the RPO codes.

 

GU6 = 3.42:1 Rear Axle Ratio

GT4 = 3.73:1 Rear Axle Ratio

GT5 = 4.10:1 Rear Axle Ratio

 

Your torque converter should lock no matter what the rear gear is, but the rear gear will definatly change the RPM's on the highway.
