2000 Sierra fuel pump humming 134K miles

I had noticed my fuel pump humming loudly on and off yesterday. I could hear it as i was driving through my neighborhood with the windows down. It hums some times but never this loud or no and off. not sure whats going on

Time to replace it. They get loud, then stop working. Or, they just stop working. Yours is saying "replace me".

Agree, it could be the "hum of death". You're lucky to get a warning.

Mine suddenly died (400 mi.s from home) $$.

I agree...replacement time I think they are like 150 bucks and you can do it yourself. The best way is to drop the fuel tank or take the bed of the truck off. I prefer dropping the tank, but many say that taking eh bed off is easier.

Bob, your story made me laugh hysterically. I can laugh now because it is in the past. I too got stranded, but nowhere even close to what you had to go through!

 

 

Long story short, REPLACE YOUR FUEL PUMP NOW BEFORE YOU GET STRANDED!

Fortunately, mine died a half mile from home. It hummed for about a year before going tu.
