OnStar - Price negotiable?

I like some of the features that come with my OnStar free trial. Particularly some the traffic and waypoint data that I believe OnStar provides when using my Nav. The price however, is absurd. I think to get the feature I'd like to have its something like $35 a month - yeah no way in hell would I pay that. I don't need or want any of the hands free calling stuff. I'm hoping OnStar prices are like satellite/XM prices - no one actually pays full price (I hope not anyway).

Does anyone have any luck negotiating with OnStar? Like, how about I pay $100 a year for everything? Cause that's about all of be willing to pay for the service, and it's about what it's worth. It should be even less IMO.

Never tried. I know some have with Sirius/XM.

Tell them just that - if they say no, you are no worse off!

Just try it. Tell them that you will not renew if they dont work out some sort of price cut. Thats what I did with Sirius. I found online where you can get 6 months for $30. So I called them and told them I would not renew unless they gave me that package. It worked.

right before my onstar expired I renewed it. the prices that they have on the website is different from the ones they have when you log into onstar. I got the security package which on there website it says 249 for a year. when I logged in the price I got was 189 for a year. ill try it out for a year and if I think its not worth it then I wont reup.

Thanks, will. That's what I was looking for. When I had XM we would wait and wait and wait to renew and every offer they sent would keep getting lower. I think I was paying $75 for the year for all their music channels. Now I use Spotify premium so I don't need it. Anyway, I'm hoping OnStar negotiates the same way. I can't see too many people actually paying those prices - their pretty darn expensive. When my trial is up, I'll try and see what they will do. Was hoping to hear people say they've had luck doing the same.

On star is very overpriced. Just request a lower price you want and refuse all other offers they propose to you. I'd love to completely disable it. The advertisements at startup once a month are annoying. I can understand during the free trial but not afterwards when you don't have service.

XM keeps calling me and I just keep saying no. The last rep that called me offered me 6 months for free after I continually turned down the 6 months for $30 offer. They just want you credit card on file so you forget about it and it auto renews. On my wife's car we always buy an xm gift card and haggle over the price with them then pay with the gift card. They are not getting my cc#.

I renewed my subscription the day it was going to expire. I kept on putting it to the side. I probably could of waited but I didn't want it to expire then I would be stuck with the prices that shows on there website.

Xm would call me and ask to reup 3 times a week!! They would ask me why and I would tell them I DONT LISTEN TO XM! And then they would ask me so what kind of music do I listen to and then I would hang up lol

Yeah the XM people are total stalkers. They harassed my wife. Account was in her name.

Back to the OP subject. A couple of years ago OnStar dealt with me several times and they did lower the price significantly but never to a price I was willing to pay. So yes they will deal on the price. If I remember correctly all I wanted to keep was the emergency response part but they would not do that.

Thanks, waumo1. That's what I was looking for. Doesn't sound like they deal like XM does. I'd really be interested in seeing their subscriber numbers. I have a feeling the majority of their customers are free trials.
