MORIMOTO Silverado spec help

I bought the Morimoto Silverado spec XB kit from The Retrofit Source and the OEM dust cover will not fit over the bulbs when the plug is on the bulb. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe your only options will be to go without, drill out the covers, or i have read in a previous post that there is a forum member who was selling some that he designed and used a 3d printer to produce

New cap

FXR Projector swap instructions (cap has to be modified too, skip to last slide. All that you need to do is drill a hole)

For your own piece of mind, Read the entire HID conversion thread. All of the information you have ever wanted to know (plus a ton more related to Sierra's) is there. It's worth your time for trouble shooting down the road if anything were to happen. Good luck! Make sure you report back and let us know if you are happy with the stock projectors and if you wired them to your battery using a relay harness or you plugged them into the OEM harness. PS, this thread may be moved into the HID thread sticky.

I vote for buying the extended cap design off of the Shapeways site.

I extended my factory caps but will buy the shapeways ones at some point.

To extend the caps, I cut off the back 1/2" of the cap and took some model sheet styrene to make 1.5" strips. Glued the strips on each side of the cap base using 5 minute JB Weld and secure by wrapping electrical tape around the cap base until dry. Then do the same with the cutoff cap end. Repeat on the ends of the cap. I then added JB Weld putty to the inside seams and smeared it all around. Finally wrapped the outside in black Gorilla duct tape. Just make sure to clean everything with alcohol and rough sand all the surfaces to give the JB weld something to bite into.

I got the extended cap idea from one of the huge HID install threads and didn't realize the shapeways design existed at the time.

I took some pics for another forum member. If you would like them, PM me and I can email them to you.

thanks guys. I think im just going to buy 2 new OEM caps and modify them as I get time. $60 and a little labor is better to me than $160 for a pair of extended caps.

Not hard to modify the caps I did both of them in about 20 mins....take your time and position them...the grommets supplied in TRS kit fit well if lined up correctly.

Make sure you get all the paint off around your ground and secure it well. I had problems with the driver side coming on until I fixed the ground properly.

Let me know if you have any questions...happy to help

Can you post a pic? I have a 2014 Silverado and want to do this. I Have the square fog lights now so am worried about getting the rounds ones installed and looking right.
