I maybe looking for a new 6.0 engine soon... Suggestions?

Hydrolocked my motor last week. Damaged one of the cylinder/pistons.

Not sure if this motor is worth fixing due to other issues that may arise after a hydrolock.

What new motors do you guys recommend?

I was talking to an employee at advance auto about Spartan engines, they have a 6.0 for about $2200 / 3 yr warranty. I did some research on the company and these motors. I found a lot of complaints and warranty nightmares.

I really don't want to spend $4000 on a motor, at the same time it needs to be a well built motor.

Also, if I sold it "as is", what is this truck worth with a bad motor?

You could do a junkyard 6.0 for around 1000. Or move up to a Jasper reman engine.

Best price on a junkyard motor is $1500 with 172k miles.

Jasper is close to $4000.

There has to be another junkyard somewhere else, look at junkyards that are farther away. There are boatloads a 6.0's out there

Better off fixing it than trying to sell it with a bad engine. Especially if you live in New England. Up here, nobody wants to touch a wrench - they want everything perfect. You'll lose your shirt trying to sell it that way. Been through this a million times myself with everything from trucks to lawn equipment. You might get lucky and find that ONE guy in a billion that feels like tackling the project, but up here guys like myself are a dying breed.

You're probably right.

I've been looking and found a few for about $1200-1600 with slightly over 100k. That's probably what i'll end up doing.

But first i'll be pulling the head and dropping the oil pan to see how bad it really is. I may end up trying to repair what I have. I figure a head job, piston, rod & bearing shouldn't be over $300. Do the work myself of course (except the head part).

You're right too. I figured S&H would be too high for motor out of AZ. It's only about $150-200.

I'm in SC.
