Have you considered just replacing the stock muffler with Magnaflow # 12909?

The factory 3.5" exhaust isn't a restriction

No I hadn't. just always been in a habit of going with the cat back on my trucks. Is that the same muffler that comes with the whole system? looking for a nice low rumble. nothing real loud

If his exhaust is actually 3.5" in diameter which aft of the muffler on the new 6.2 trucks it's hit or miss on whether or not they actually are. Plenty of crew cabs especially have a 3" tailpipe..... I did measurements and posted pictures in another thread a while back as it riled a bunch of people up for whatever ridiculous reason......

My double cab is all 3.5" as an example and I thought about doing just a muffler swap because of that. Heck I even have a nice looking oem polished tip on it but then there is other factors at work. One thing is the placement of the resonator in the tailpipe and to remove it would be just easier to swap out the tailpipe for the cost..... at which point over a kit you are saving yourself about 6' of straight pipe in front of the muffler. The other is the valve behind the muffler which drops to 3" no matter what size your exhaust happens to end up being. Some guys like the valve to eliminate the helicopter sound in V4.... my truck basically never runs in V4 ever except going down a hill... and I am shutting it off right away via tuning anyhow. With the resonator in still and the valve I wouldn't expect much of a sound improvement.... they aren't loud with no muffler and the valve still in place lol.

My truck is tuned so no worries about the V4 mode. just looking for a little more sound..well some sound anyway. sounds like an electric car

I have the 15318 on my truck. Nice rumble when idling and accelerating and mostly quiet when cruising. I don't like the helicopter sound which is noticeable. Overall I like the system. One thing I don't care for is the five inch chrome tip. Makes it look like a diesel. Planned to have this exhaust with ARH headers and a tune, but working with GM on a buyback so holding off on further modifications, especially anything that might hinder the warranty and buyback.

I started off with a Corsa system, but it was wayyy too loud for me. Wife said it rattled the windows when started in the garage cold. Sold it to a fellow member on this forum and he likes it. Exhaust is very much a personal choice. I also felt like the Corsa system had drone when cruising, but numerous members complained that it did not drone. Gave me a headache, so it was drone to me. Good luck with your choice.

I did the 12909 muffler in place of the stock muffler, removed the valve, left the factory over-axle + tip + resonator, no helicopter sound

Wasn't 'loud' but it was noticeable over stock. Cost $110 for the muffler (less if you can get a coupon for wherever you order it from) and $40 to have it installed.

Thanks for the replies! Sounds like it's exactly what I'm looking for sound wise. not sure about the 5" tip tho. Might consider what robvas did as well. Do you have any pics Buyamericaniron? Sorry to hear about the buyback thing! I love the truck but that clunky shifting thing is very irritating
