Texas speed headers

I have a 2015 Silverado Z71 Crew Cab. So far the truck has the Air Raid tube with the dry filter, magnaflow 14" muffler and flapper and resonator removed, and a Diablo intune. I want to add some longtube headers at some point. Has anyone had experience with Texas Speed and Performance Longtube headers. I also want to know whether the off-road y pipe is better performance over the high flow catted y pipe that they offer.

Interested on this as well. I've heard good things about Texas Speed on the 08-13 trucks, but not much with the 14+.

I'm thinking I read some negative info somewhere about them being Chinese Knock-off (Kooks or ARH's), I can't remember though, you might wanna do some checking.

Yea ill do some more research. Just trying to get a head start.

Those of you with experience with headers, what's the big difference between 1 3/4 and 1 7/8? My truck isn't raced and will never be supercharged or anything. Just used to daily commute and haul whatever I put behind it.

They are super nice headers for the money. They look and fit awesome! I have a set on my 02 Camaro SS, 2015 Camaro 1LE, and a set on my old 07 GMC. They all fit perfect and the quality is top notch for the money you pay. I will be installing a set on my 14 soon.

07Softail is correct. You are better off with 1 3/4 on your truck. 1 7/8 may gain a few HP, but only in the high RPM range and you will lose some torque at lower RPM's which is where you need it to get your truck moving. There is very little difference in your final HP output between high flow cats and an off road pipe. Last dyno test I read there was a 1 ~ 2 hp difference which you will never be able to tell. My suggestion would be to run the cats.

I was going to get 1-7/8 TSP headers last winter but they were on back order for 3-4 months so I went another route. From the people in the camaro world who have them like them. What size are you going with?

Does anyone know where you to pickup a set of TS headers in 1 3/4? All my searching has only found 1 7/8. I will definitely be running hi-flow cats cause I want to keep the rasp down. That being said I can't find any TS that come with cats

Direct from Texas speed. Maybe contact them?

Yea I might have to give them a call. Their website only has 1 7/8 with/without ORY. Only 1 3/4 listed are ARH

I would get 1 7/8s from back when I was modding my TA, it shows to help even on just lightly modded vehicles to get 1 7/8s over the smaller ones.

So you think I would still net similar results with the 1 7/8 over 1 3/4? The most performance this truck will ever have is headers, exhaust, intake, and tune.

    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
    • Atlas, you kill me As aggravating as a project like this can be you have been unable to hide your fascination with learning and using that angst against this beast like a Ninjitsu Master. It amuses you, admit it now.      BTW, love your writing style. 😉
