GM phone number / Max Tow Pkg Mirror swap

Is there a GM tech line that I can call vs going to the dealer and asking the question of 'can I swap out my camper mirrors for std. mirrors?

 

Here's the scoop:

I want the max tow package for the capability....especially payload. The enhanced cooling radiator, the 3.73 gear ratio (that I currently have on my 2008 z71...that I can't get unless I go with the max tow pkg now), etc. Although I want to have the std mirrors. Keep in mind, I'll be ordering and SLE double cab sierra (not an SLT). From what I understand there were some compatibility issues with going from small to large mirrors and the electrical working. Now of course, I think there is an additional bell or whistle on the key pad in the truck (on a slt)....so maybe this is why it doesn't work when doing the swap from small mirrors to larger. I'm going from camper to std mirrors. I'm guessing on the SLT there is the option for power folding. For me...keep in mind I want to go from a 2016 Sierra SLE double cab with the max tow package (camper mirrors without the power folding function) to the same truck with standard mirrors. I was told I could do this in 2015....and now the parts guy at the dealer is throwing his hands up to the fact that 'it is a mirror swap'.....we had issues, can't do anything. Now.....mine would be going the easier route in terms of functionality. Will this work? I really thought all I would need is mirror caps, mirror assembly, and attachment plate.....for both sides and I would be good. Do I need to buy the wiring harness in the door as well.....or will the one that comes with the SLE camper mirrors work with the standard mirrors?

Not looking for advice about how I need or don't need certain mirrors......just trying to figure this out. Thanks in advance!

Yours would go the opposite but procedure should be similar.

I'm sure if you posted you want to trade your tow mirrors in the for sale forum you will find people wanting to swap.

Slow down...you want to get a Max Trailer truck, but want the small mirrors instead of the tow mirrors? What year and trim level Sierra are you looking at?

All the max tow package 1/2 tons come std with camper mirrors regardless of trim.....at least 2014, 15, 16. I'm looking at 15 or 16...sle
