Stones ding chrome grill

I was surprised when after a 400 mile roundtrip, to find I had two actual dings to my front chrome grill. I use RejeX sealer on my chrome and paint so I thought I'd clay-bar the dings to see if that might smooth them out. Nope - no help. I do know I heard a couple of stones hit the front of the truck but was not expecting dings to the chrome - it must be pretty thin. I finally gave up on polishing away the dings, coated the chrome with RejeX ( http://www.rejex.com/ ) again and called it quits. The dings sure stand out being on the chrome. There were no dings to the paint.

Have a couple on mine also but the grill is plastic with a chrome coating.

What about all the other chrome trim around the front of the truck - around the grill, chrome trim just under the front of the hood, the chrome around the headlights, is it plastic with chrome plating too?

Yes. GM stopped using real metal in those areas in 1988.

Then I would guess that other brands do the same thing - Ford, Ram, etc?

Yup

On the plus side they are not too expensive to replace

Bob I feel your pain ! About a week ago I heard something loud hit my grill and when I got home I had a big stone chip in the chrome plated grill. There are also a few smaller chips . :(. I also use Rejex on my truck . IMO it is the longest lasting sealant or wax I have used on my truck . Repels everything but stone chips. :(
