Can someone make sence

I find this odd.  I have a 1999 Chevy Tahoe LT.  It is fully loaded except Heated and polorized Side Mirrors.  Also my VIN# states that my Tahoe is an LS.  But I have the LT badges on the side and it is All leather and overhead compartments and what not.  Almost all the amenities of the LT.  Was this an LS but ordered with the LT package?  I am just confused about this.

Yep, very easily could have slapped on new badges.  My truck is an LS with every option except leather seats.  My buddy bought a truck exactly like mine except his was a LT (from factory).  When we compared our spec's (sticker), I actually had more options than he did.  Kinda strange how it all works out...

So what I'm getting at is.... you can have a LS with every LT option and it will still have a LS badge (from what I've seen)...leather seats do not make a truck a LT.

What do you mean your VIN says it is a LS?  There is not any designation in the VIN that states option content.

Look at your option codes in the glove box.  If you see an option 1SB it is an LS, LT would be 1SC

Yea I know that.  It would just be weird.  What is the acctual difference between an LT and an LS?  Anny clue.  All I know is that the cool thing about it is that if it were an LT it would have been more on my insurance.

Somehow in the vin it does tell if its a LS or LT.

On my bonnieville it shows that it is a SE so my insurnace is cheap cause I don't have a supercharger.

Like buying a mustang with a v-6 not a v-8.  The insurance is cheaper, then you drop a v-8 in there and you got all the amentites and less insurance cost.

Well, there ya have it…..chances are your insurance company is wrong.

Like I say, look at the RPO codes in the glove box to find out for sure.  I bet you will find your rig is a legitimate LT indicated by a 1SC option code.

On the newer body silverados (2002)...all an LT gets you is heated leather seats, onstar, and a defrosting rear window.  The outside is exactly the same...

Larry's right the vin only tells you so much, but it doesn't get into specifics about options and that type of stuff.

As far as the bonneville being supercharged on it the vin tells you the engine so it will show if it's the 3.8 or the 3.8 s/c.

The vin tells you in order:

Where it was made (USA, Canada, etc...)

Vehicle Manufacturer

Vehicle Make

GVWR Range/Brake System

Chasis/Series

Body Type

Engine Type

Check Digit

Model Year

Plant where it was made

and then its sequence number

It's pretty basic, from there you need the RPO codes in the glovebox to get the specifics.

Yes however many the LT's (and GMC SLT'S) have the BS1 accoustical package and other good stuff they are quieter.

Have a great one!

Well I checked.  And yes I have a ligitamate(sp?) LT.  Stupid arse insurance company.  Oh well.  Thanks for the help.  So is it dual power seats and heated what makes it LT?  I still can't find out the difference.
