Low Beam Headlights Not Bright..????

Recommended Posts

I'm finding my new 2015 Silverado doesn't have very bright low beam headlights with the projectors type headlights. I didn't really notice how dull the projector low beams are without the fog lights on because I upgraded to Led fogs a month ago. Regards to the High beam that uses the halogen reflector type or lights is very bright. My older 2011 Silverado was just a basic LS and it had very bright low beam headlights and because of that I never installed any fog lights.

I seen somewhere about the sierra's headlights had a similar issue but I cant seem to find anything on it.

I'm wondering if I'm the only one notice how their headlights are like this? if so what did you do to fix it? will the dealer do something about it or...???

Search, there is tons of information on how to upgrade if you want to go that path (this is probably one of the most talked about subjects). Some say they are fine, others complain they are weak, it is unique to each person. I would imagine many who complain are coming from vehicles with HID/LED headlights so naturally they think these are horrible while others say they are great. Either way, search and you will find which ways and kits fit your needs. Every question doesn't need a new thread...

I seen how people installed HID's and led's but I was wondering if the dealer does anything about it? Someone told me there was a recall on some a few months ago. Coming from a 2011 to a 14 there is some disappointment in the headlight quality. I bought a higher trim to get the projectors because I thought they were better.

Negative on GM. The Sierra fix is not a recall but rather a if you complain, they will update it while under your 3yr 36k warranty. Silverado uses a two bulb headlamp where Sierra is a single bulb headlamp with an active shutter (just like factory HID lighting) that opens up for high beam and it is a different bulb.

Lighting for both trucks are compliant with the rules and regulations for FMVSS and NHTSA.

just saying a 2015 Silverado lt low beams with the halogen reflector lights are way brighter than the projector. same with the 2007-13 trucks, the older trucks has bright ones too. Id like to know what does gm do with the sierras bad headlights? YES they does something to make them brighter, I think something to do with the discharge.

This is why I traded in my 2014 and got a 16. 14-15 headlights suck. The new led/hid in 16 are so bright I constantly get flashed at night. Love it.

Wait till someone shoots at you because they think you are not dimming your lights. You may not love it so much then. Heard of something like this happening somewhere :( I usually flash my brights back at them and then they either flip me off or go on their merry way :D

Lol. It is crazytown out there. Guess I'll have to shoot back. I usually drive with my hand on the signal stick and give a little flash back. It happens a lot. It's about time they put decent lights in. My 2006 escalade had HIDs, so I use use to the nice lighting, then when I got that '14 Silvarado lighting was just pathetic. Very happy with the '16.
