In july I'll be getting rid of my 04 3/4 ton to get a 2016 slt with the 6.2.

I'm just curious if you lose cylinder deactivation when you tune it? I've heard you do, but he is a ford fan boy, ya I know one of those guys :(

So I'm just looking for info in regards to tuning them, and real world mpg. I'm not expecting 30 mpg+, but I'm sure it'll be at the 11 I get in my current gutless 6.0

Thanks in advance, and thanks for having me on the forum!

Several people are tuned. As far as AFM goes it is up to you, if you are going to tune the truck then yes you can turn it off. I've had it turned off on my 2014 since I owned the truck. REal world, I get anywhere from 20-22mpg on the highway with my truck. As long as you keep your foot out of it and stay under 70mph.

Many people choose to turn off AFM when they tune, but you can choose to leave it on. I have AFM turned off on my tuned 5.3. No V4 helicopter noise.

What are you guys getting city? And what tunes are you using/ how noticable is the power and throttle responce?

Diablosport 93 tune

My total average is 17mpg, I have an 8 mile commute that is mostly highway but not really long enough to see good mileage. My highway numbers are from 100+ mile trips.

Not to shabby for a beast motor. I'm not to concerned about mpg, just wanted to know real numbers. Anything you guys dislike about the drive train?

Thank you sir, good review. After test driving both the 5.3 and 6.2 a couple months ago, I really hated the lack of response they both had (5.3 felt worse), so I'm glad that gets better with a tune.

Its like driving a new truck, Is the horsepower and torque improvement out of this world. No its not but the drive ability is so much better and you can tell the tune is making 100% better use of the motor and transmission. It now finally feels like the 400+HP truck that it is.

And that's all I want from it. I was impressed with it stock, other than the hesitation and response. I was a little worried that mpg would go to crap when turning off afm, but it's nice to see that it doesnt.
