6.0 lq4 in a 1/2 ton, a few questions for those who have done this.

I'm debating swapping out the 4.8 in my 01 with a stock LQ4 both have about 200k miles.

What kinda of fuel economy are you getting?

City & freeway?

What rear gear ratio and tire size?

Are you using a stock lq4 or what mods?

I just want to keep it stock for low end torque and reliability.

Yes I know the 60e may not survive but if it's stock it may last forever.

Only mod I may do is headers and a free flowing exhaust, but I don't know yet.

I also have a set of stock 3.73 and posi I need to install or keep the 3.42s with 265/70/17 tires.

Thanks for that link but It didn't have much info that I already know on engines & swaps.

I'm keeping it stock for best mpg besides a tune or partial tune to help.

Guys talking heads, cam etc... Need a stall and that's going to get crappy mpg.

Mines a daily, I have other fast toys for speed.

Swap it and have it tuned for longevity. Mileage will be what is expected with 3.42's. 13/18. Ive ran a LQ9 on a stock 60e for about 55,000 miles. It has a total of 185,000 miles on it

3.42 and 13/18. On a long 55 mph road in cruise between 55-60 i can do about 20.

I have an '02 LQ4 in my '01 regular cab long bed. When I drove the pickup regularly, I got 14.5 give or take 0.5. That's in LA city traffic. 3.42 rear with 265/60/18 tires.

That's not too bad of mpg with 3.42

You still have a 60e tranny or 80e?

What other engine mods do you have?

Do you have stock exhaust or?

60e, engine internals are stock. Volant CAI and Corsa cat-back made for a Silverado SS/Denali. 6.0 head and mid pipes. Some modification was made to the cat-back to clear a 2wd crossmember. It is also tuned. I do not drive gingerly. Most of the time i end up driving like a pissed off teenager because of california traffic.

That's good too know.

Now that the mpg was the about the same, is it a night and day difference in a 6.0 vs 4.8/5.3?

To say it's worth it no matter what?

That is subjective. More power, but the the LQ9 requires 91 octane.

What year models are the easiest for this swap? that is LQ4 or LQ9

Externally they are the same. All you need is the long block. All accessories and manifolds are the same. The question is, how much is 345 HP vs 325 HP worth to you

I'm assuming the LQ9 is 345 hp and harder to find or more expensive?
