Logging Pics

Here in Canada, the 2015 Silverado HD brochure had a picture of a 3500HD dually towing a gooseneck trailer w/ a few logs on it (on pavement) posed in front of a log loader & a pile of logs. Give me a 2016 for a few days & I'll come up some pics that are closer to reality. The logging was probably 15 miles from the nearest pavement.

Pics were taken last July between Deep River & Mattawa Ontario just outside of Algonquin Provincial Park. We were staying @ nearby Driftwood Provincial Park, that's the reason for the mudflaps. The pin shows the approximate location where we were.

A few minutes earlier we had seen a cow moose in a marsh along the access road.

I have never heard of or seen one in my lifetime.

Oh OK :-) A cow is what a female moose is called. An adult male (bull) has a rack, looks like Bullwinkle. A baby moose is called a calf.

I have never heard of or seen one in my lifetime.

Camping in Algonquin Provincial Park for a few days. The blackflies are friendlier than I thought they would be (gone where I live about 2 hours south of the park). Anyone who has hunting or fished in the boreal region of Canada will know what I'm talking about.

Out for a drive tonight & had hardly gotten going when this fella came limping along the road by the old airstrip:

Cow (female) moose just off the highway west of Cache Lake where the old railbed crosses & continues west towards Source Lake:

Spruce grouse beside the Arowhon Rd. The stupid thing flew up into the trees before I could get out of the truck. This the 1st time I've seen 1 this far south in the province. General range is in northern Ontario. Usually these birds (similar to ruffed) are as dumb as stumps:

A couple of real world pics that Chevrolet's marketing department should consider for the next brochure. Like those images of a truck towing a trailer w/ a culvert on it. How much weight is that?
