Just in case some of you didn't know, I live in Jackson Tn which was on of the worst hit areas last sunday night. The stuff shown on tv doesn't even justify the widespread damage around here. Only thing of mine damaged was my truck. Roof, Bed, and sides are dented. I am planning on washing it and taking it to the shop this week for an estimate. I am so sick of cutting trees and clearing brush i could puke! :smash:

I will try to get pics, but I doubt they would show the evidence well. I 've got a good friend in the Auto-body repair business, and I know he will get it looking like new again. I got a light dose of the stuff. I couldn't count the number of cars I've seen that had all of the glass busted out and some even had tail light lenses broke.

It probably looks a lot like OKC did in May of 99. Entire housing editions now just concrete slabs...There are still empty holes in those neighborhoods, and you can still make out the track from the air...4 years later

Glad to hear you are OK.

####.  Sounds like an ice storm we had.  We got lucky, the Ranger was not damaged at all...a branch came down on the Contour, but it didn't do any damage.  Many of our neighbors were not so lucky though...

Bummer!  Sorry to hear about the tornado problems.  My heart goes out to all the people in your town, as well as everyone else in the tornado-affected areas.  :)  :(

Hope you get your rig fixed and good as new.  We had a quicky hail storm last nite, but no damage to the rado - my alero got another small hood dent - metal must be paper-thin!!

The important thing is that you are OK...  Your truck can be repaired.

I hope none of our other members weren't affected any worse than you...  :chevy:

I appreciate your thoughts and expressions. I just feel lucky, since so many people lost their entire homes and cars. They have estimated 5 million in residential damage in the county alone so far. They are expecting that estimate to more than double after the city residential is added to it. Also the Historic downtown area was destroyed. That cost will be way more than the residential number will be. If any of you are interested in reading some of the local stories, check the link below.

Hey sorry to hear about your truck.  I live in Brownsville, TN and we were lucky that it missed us.  I went to school at Union and lived in Jackson for 4 years.

My brothers go to Union now and suffered hail damage to their vehicles.  One has a Dodge Ram and he came home tonight for us to see the damage.  He has about 10 baseball size dents all over his truck and at least 120 marble or golf ball sized dents.  Some of the larger dents were severe enough to crack the paint.  It also cracked the windshield in 4 places.  My other brother has a 1996 GMC Jimmy and his just suffered a couple of small dents.

I haven't been over to Jackson yet to see the damage but I hear that the downtown is basically completely demolished.

Jones, I feel your pain (literally).  My parents live 5 miles due east of a small town in SW Missouri called Pierce City.  Well, the town ain't there no more and neither are my parents barns or trees.  I spent all day Mon and Tue with saw in hand cutting brush and trees.  Mom and Dad had about 80 mature oaks, hickories and walnuts in their 4 acre lawn and now they have about 15 left.  These are big basstuds, 80-100 feet tall.  Snapped like matchsticks or uprooted completely.  House sustained roof damage - pole barn blown away.  Chicken house picked up and slammed against a tree 100 yds away.

Got all the trees off the house Mon, and cleared an alley for the utility trucks yesterday.  Hopefully they will have power by the end of the week.

Trailer park 3/10'ths of a mile to the west destoryed with 3 dead.  Bad shlit.

Mom and Dad okay (Mom broke a toe chasing the cows thru the brush in the dark :chevy: ) and that is whats important.

They will rebuild.  I am tired and glad to be back to work so I can rest.

Same tornado passed within 5 miles of my house (which is about 45 miles due east of my parents).

Weather service says more of the same tonite, tommorrow and saturday.  Weird weather.

They showed pictures of Pierce City on the news here in Atlanta!  I am sorry, the damage looked bad.  They said the town may just finish destroying the building and then begin rebuilding.  We got some bad weather yesterday.  I got dismissed from school an hour late!   :chevy:  :banghead:

Glad to hear you guys with damage are ok yourselves.  Hope things can be restored in a timely fashion and things settle down a bit.  I know we've got rain/storms forecasted for the next 4 days.
