2014 and iphone 6s plus

I am hoping the fellow iphone users our there can help me. I have a 2014 and therefore do not have the text functions integrated into my Sierra SLT. Since having this truck I've had a blackberry, an android phone and now an iphone 6s plus.

When I am connected to bluetooth and listening to the radio, my phone calls come through on the iphones as they always did. This works great. My text messages however no longer make an audible alert. I assume it is trying to send the test through the bluetooth but I am not sure. Is there a setting somewhere for this on etiher the truck or the phone.

On my previous phones, the phone calls would go to the bluetooth but the phone will stiill ding outloud (not through the bluetooth) when I get a text. It is driving me crazy not knowing when I get a text.

For the safety nuts out there....I am not trying to text and drive. I would like to hear the message and then say "hey siri.....read my last message." Unfortunately, without the ding I never know that I got the message.

Any ideas?

I have the same issue with the same phone, but my previous iPhone 5 did the same. I only get an audible alert through the truck is if I'm in a call or using gps on the phone through the truck. But I don't know of s fix.

the only time I will here a txt alert while connected to BT is while on a call, or using BT music.

My iPhone connection with the MyLink is clunky with random issues, AT BEST. I just live with it and figure this truck is a stepping stone to better technological connection advancements in the future. It does all kinds of funky things.

GM won't address these things either. They may do some minor software updates here and there but as a manufacturer, they're focused on the future and releasing newer model trucks with better technology. Us early adopters are likely screwed.

I'd be happy if they could just figure out a way for the MyLink to return to the screen I was on prior to making or answering a phone call.

I believe the problem has to do with the Mylink integration with the iPhone. When the phone is connected by Bluetooth, the iphone sends all audio to the Mylink system. When you have your Mylink set to radio, for instance, all other audio input is "blocked" or "muted". I have to switch my iPhone output from Mylink back to iPhone each time I have my iPhone Bluetooth is turned on and connects to the truck. I found this out in another thread on GM-T.

I have the same thing happen but my understanding is that it is an apple issue with the iOS. With the newer iOS and mylink it will also switch your audio source once taking a call. I read somewhere else on the forum that if you turn Siri off this will stop. That of course was before the new iOS software update for the iPhone that realesed a few days ago lol. I don't want to turn off Siri because I use it all the time when I'm driving using the Siri function from the steering wheel. I just downloaded the iOS update last night and will see if it fixed anything today.

Turn of Siri and reboot the phone, only workaround that works since ios 9.2 for me.

Make sure 'show notifications' is 'on' in the iphone bluetooth setting for your truck mylink. Not sure if that works with the '14s or not for text alerts.

FWIW 9.2.1 didnt fix the mylink problems.
