Taaaaaaahoe? Posted May 8, 2003 Posted May 8, 2003 Hey guys and gals bear with me, I Just bought my first Tahoe yesterday. Sold my Jeep Grand cherokee 5.9 for an 02' Tahoe LT 2wd. Noticed one thing since I had it. at slower speeds whild making right turns, even if slight turns any time there is more weight placed on the left side of the tahoe I am getting a grinding noise from the rear tire. Seems to still be there if Im on the breaks too. Sounds like something dragging on the caliper, but why only on turns? Not sure what it could be, any ideas guys/gals? Thanks!! Mike
sjspor Posted May 8, 2003 Posted May 8, 2003 My guess would be the parking brake... Known bug. The parking brake is a seperate set of Drum brakes, on the inside of the rear disc. The clip that holds them in place is'nt, or was'nt quite right and the drag making a grinding sound. But this just a guess..
mark w Posted May 8, 2003 Posted May 8, 2003 let us know if you figure it out, my 2000 silverado does the same thing. very annoying!
Taaaaaaahoe? Posted May 8, 2003 Author Posted May 8, 2003 2wd, I don't think its my LS diff. But im not real sure! the E-brake thing sounds about right, Guess Ill take it off and have a lookie! Thanks guys!
seadoons Posted May 8, 2003 Posted May 8, 2003 I've always heard of this e-brake problem, but I didn't think my truck had it because the e-brake would hold the truck. I had it in the shop getting some warranty work done on it, and the service writer called me and said oh, by the way, we fixed your e-brake...it wasn't holding at all. I can definately tell the difference now - the e-brake pedal is much stiffer, where as before it would go all the way to the floor. If your e-brake pedal is easy to push and it goes to the floor, your probably have a problem.
