Fuel Pump Noise

I have a 1999 Sierre Crew Cab 3500, the odometer says the truck has 55k miles on it. I hear a noise coming from the area of the fuel tank. Its a sound that seems like it's the fuel pump. I have included a video for you to listen. If this is the fuel pump making this noise does that mean the fuel pump is going bad? I would want to replace it if need be because I am putting equipment in the bed of the truck which will complicate replacemnt of the fuel pump later on.

Would be easier to hear it if you just had the ignition on and engine off. ;-)

If it is the fuel pump whining, you've probably got about 6 months before it dies. The fuel pump in my '01 whined about 8 months before it died.

Try to keep the fuel tank more than half full; it helps keep the pump cool.

It's a known issue - probably wouldn't be a bad idea to replace it as a preventative. It's going to die on you; it's just a matter of time.

The pump shuts off after about a second when the ignition key is in the on position.

But you can still hear that pump whining in the video right?

Any suggestions on a replacement pump? Factory or aftermarket?

Don't scrimp on the pump. I have not had a cheapie pump ever last more than 2 years.
