1995 k1500 as a daily driver?

I could use some advice. My "dream truck" is a black ext cab 4x4 1995 k1500. Love the 350 reliability looks and all. Have an imagine in my mind of what I would do to make it perfect truck. I know there are still some out there- although extremely rare- with little rust and around or under 100k. Am I crazy for thinking if I found one to my liking to purchase and use as a "daily driver"?. It would split time with my car but I definitely plan on driving it to work a few times a week and for work on weekends. Also I have a young one in rear facing car seat that I would be transporting. I know its a pain and a crew cab would be ideal but is it unrealistic to expect to transport child in ext cab 2 door? Also when did they put airbags in - is it even safe for my child? Just wondering if I need to wake up and just get a newer crew cab or if this option could work?

I have a lifted manual 95k1500 with original engine and transmission, they are great and still drives like new. Granted I found the one with no rust or anything and was meticulously taken care of. It's a great truck if you find a good one. I definitely recommend that truck man I want another one haha. I did a lot of work and swapped out motor and trans but still have originals for a rainy day

I had a '98 with 195k on the odometer that I daily drove for over a year. I had no issues with it, just performed regular maintenance

I had a 1998 K1500 Ext cab long bed. It was a good truck and the guy I sold it to is still using it to travel across country regularly.

The only real problems were the brakes suck and still do. Nothing could be done to make them good. In my opinion they are dangerous.

The brake lines to the rear also rusted out at 40K and it is a known problem.

I had a 1990 GMC exactly like the 1995 you want. Was black with a red interior. It was a great truck and wish I still had it. A 2011 Silverado and 2002 Blazer later, I now drive a '93 Chevy ex cab as my daily driver and it does the job well. Believe it or not, my little one is actually easier to get in and out of the older one without the doors than he was with the 2011 ex cab. As convenient as they might be, the ex cab doors suck when in a parking lot or any other tight space. He's in a forward facing seat though; he was already out of the rear by the time I got this truck so I can't speak to that.

I have a 1995 Chevy K1500 with 265k miles on it. The only problem I really have is it's rusting away thanks to Michigan winters. I would love nothing more than to find another one.

I have a '94 K1500 ext cab/long bed. I owned it since new, it only has 158,000 miles, and it's still used as a daily driver every day ...

Without a doubt that would make a great truck as a daily driver, or for anything really. The 350 is a decades old proven great engine and that time from the late 80's to mid 90's are the most reliable yet easy to work on as bullet proof of a truck that was ever made.

If I ever had a long lost Uncle that willed me tons of money or I won the lottery,etc... I would have several of them made up/restored. I wouldnt touch a new one with a ten foot pole.
