Need help-bose factory system rear amp gone out??

All of a sudden, I couldnt hear the rear speakers. I faded to the back and they are on, but only about a 1/4 of the volume of the front speakers which are seeming to play as normal.  My question is, is there a seperate amp for the rear speakers? If so, where is it located?  Could this be the problem? would the rears still play if the amp was gone? are these speakers made with the amp attached to the back of the speaker?  

 

Any troubleshooting suggestions or any knowledge of a known problem would be appreciated.  Thanks
