Dealer Dent

Dealership is sending me $2650 for two dents they put in. Might get them popped out for $150 and lift the truck with the rest :) I'm pissed but they are going to fix it. Not much more that can happen. Maybe a free oil change or two.

discovered a slight dent (but noticeable) the day after I took my new truck home. It was really cloudy when I first drove it (they let me take it for a weekend and weather was shitty), and then night when I picked it up. Neither my son, me, or the saleswoman saw it. So, next AM, first day with my new rig, it's a beautiful Fall AM and boom I see it right away. Took it right to the dealership and they gave me a "we owe" slip on the spot, Not a second's hesitation. Gave me a nice 2014 that had just been turned and two days later I was happy.

Like others have said-shit happens, give them a chance.

If they will switch you out a 2016 with same options at no price take it and run! If anything else it will be worth more at trade in later being a year newer and I personally think the new front end looks better.

A little more backstory. It wasn't the service department that dented my truck. It was the DVD headrest installer that did it leaving the service department bay. They comped the dealership for the install. Got my truck back last night and it looked flawless. Went to test the DVD players and they didn't work lol. Luckily I know wiring so I was able to figure out that the rap wire came out of the connector and blew the 3 amp fuse. All fixed all good. They did forget to put the usb hdmi interface in as well so I'll call them for that. I'm just glad I have my truck back and the dealership took care of me. They're also giving me back what they got back for the install so I can buy some truck goodies.

I found a ding in my last new car when it was being delivered to me. No big deal- Was PDR'd in 15 minutes. Dealer was cool about it and so was I.

My new truck got hit by some road debris 12 hours after I picked it up. That one was on me.

Stuff happens. I deal with it.

Just make sure its done right! Look it over real good and if you find the slightest evidence of a repair, make them correct it. Been there on that issue with a dealer body shop. They could have cared less if the job was done right.

I would be pissed, it hurts the value down the line. That being said, I worked at a Saab dealer in Vancouver when I was going to University, cars got dinged up all the time. Some were by staff (who never owned up to it) and other were by delivery trucks or other customers. The dealer always paid. They even took one car back (Saab 900 turbo) that had been sold but repaired while new. A light fell in a wind storm from one of the big poles and smashed the rear hatch. It was replaced and painted to match but never disclosed to the new buyer. About a month after he bought it he found a bunch of glass down by the spare tire and came in, he was not pleased so they gave him a new car.

I turned down a car that was damaged the day it was supposed to be delivered to me. Dealer here in Ottawa, I picked up the only black Murano they had left and it was in the showroom. They were pushing it out of the showroom backwards and caught the door on the building, bending it back to the fender. I came in and had a look but the whole door frame was twisted. They assured me they would replace the door and could pull the frame straight. I said no thanks, not on a new car. They ended up giving me the owners demo (next trim level up) with a couple thousand KM on it for the same price so I was happy with the extra features.

    • I am having similar issues.. 08, 4.8L granted I did had a fender bender and minor damage up front passenger side but I don’t think it had anything to do with it.. I had the high and low pressure checked and my fan for my radiator keeps coming on.. replaced the pressure switch and don’t want to keep throwing parts at it. I did have some minor problems here and there like on long road trips sometimes the ac would get a little warm and then on the highway as soon as I give it a little gas or get a little heavier on the petal it started running cooler. Never had an issue with the ac besides the here and there.. but I also started having issues when I fuel up now it takes a bit to start ( super embarrassing) it runs fine and once started ( only happens after fueling up) starts fine any other time. Could they be related?
    • Spent a small fortune on fuel this weekend.   $6.69 diesel, 18 gallons of that. $6.99 92-octane ethanol free, 10 gallons of that for yard machines $5.59 87-octane for one of the cars, 11 gallons.   $250+ and I didn't even get a tug.   Hormuz ain't Hormuzin again, did not see that coming...LOL
    • Appreciate the advice. I've watched multiple videos. Most showing the most complex for those that have a center console, to one that showed maybe 2 pieces of trim being removed, like 6 screws, pulling back the screen and switch assembly, and installing the inline module. And this was a new/newer Silverado. That didn't look too bad. All the others show alot of trim pieces that need to be removed. I've broken those kind of tabs/clips on my C8 Corvette trying to get to the battery, and that was a lot less clips than what I think is involved here after watching multiple videos and looking at my dash today. I have one on the way. Called a reputable stereo place about installing it and got a "minimum" price of $175. Ouch! Looking forward to seeing what the instructions have to say.
    • Hard to say what the issue might be. Anything from the ability to cool the AC condenser up front, to blend door issues in the HVAC unit, to refrigerant charge, to compressor issues or issues in the lines.   Report back what the techs find on the 29th.   GM has service publications which list acceptable vent temperatures and AC pressures at given ambient temps and humidity. They probably won't touch the system if it's operating within those ranges.   I'm also surprised to hear your 2024 with the L8T is still using R134a? I was pretty sure the HD's had switched to the new refrigerant around 2020.
