oil filter you use???

I must admit i'm new to this. Before I just used whatever

was on sale or the store had. This forum has changed my thinking. I would like to know what oil filters you guys use.

I have an 03 silverado Z71 5.3. From your recommendations

I will break in with dino for 9000 mil., then switch to synthetic.

Is a bosch filter ok or should I spend the extra money on a mobil 1? Also does anyone use a bigger filter than is called for?

I use the standard PF-59 (different for the 03s i believe) ac delco filter and mobil one oil.  Been doing this for 35K miles

AC Delco is the best for the money.  If you can't find AC, I would use Mobil 1, which is somewhat better, but much more expensive.

 

Purolator Pure One is about 1/2 way between the two.

Mobil 1 oil, Mobil 1 oil filter.  Going on 94K and going strong.  Oil analysis shows wear more like 20K.

Using mobil 1 oil and filter do you change every 5000?

I'm leaning towards this.

I change between 5000 and 6000 usually closer to 5000.

Pennzoil and Fram filter every 3k.  I shall speek out for the few fram users on this forum and even the fewer that trust fram as I have seen lately.  I have as well as my father used fram in all of our vehicles for well since I am only 22 I can say 22 years for sure and have noticed no problems of any sort with any of the cars we have used them in all of which have had an excess of 100k on them before they departed our yard.  So that is my 2 cents on the topic.

Just did first oil change and used Purolator Pure One w/ Havoline 5w30 synthetic.

94' with 350 TBI and 122,xxx miles. Always used AC filter and Pennzoil every 3000 miles. Uses 1/2 quart between changes.

Mobil 1 went in at 1000 miles on every vehicle I've owned in recent history and changed every 5000 miles. As far as filters, anything but Fram.

AC Delco PF59's and mobil 1 each time.  Mobil 1 grease when needed.

I really don't think you can go wrong with the AC.  However I sometimes use the Purolator Pure One.  As far as Fram I used them for years with no failure, but two items:  First of all they don't make them (Fram) the way they used to; years ago they were a premium filter.  Also considering the cheap materials that are used in the Fram it has to increase (even by a small chance) the odds of failure.  Its not worth it when you can by the AC for almost the same price.
