Noise cancellation

How does it work in these trucks? I see the little speaker but not sure what it actually does.

It uses the factory audio system to cancel out noises...it's not foolproof.

This and the MagRide are the two greatest things about these trucks. The noise cancellation works great and is very effective.

It provides an opposing sound frequency to cancel out various running noises. Example: The Truck engine puts out a certain sound waveform and the radio sends out the opposing waveform, canceling out the original sound wave so you don't hear it. It works just like noise canceling headphones.

What looks like little speakers are actually three microphones in the headliner. They are part of the noise cancellation system and pick up sounds for the radio to filter out. They are turned for your truck, so for example if you have a Bose system then they won't react to the built in subwoofer but if you try to add GM's Kicker aftermarket sub under the rear seat then it will mess with the noise cancellation system.

 

It's pretty slick and well engineered in my opinion and everyone notices a big difference in my truck vs. any other vehicle they ride in. Especially because I have a Borla ATAK aftermarket exhaust which is LOUD and MEAN and I barely hear anything in the cab but everyone in the surrounding area knows when I give it gas. I can even tell a huge difference when I just put the windows down.
