Rear diff, BANG

014 Max tow G80.this 9.6 diff, makes a bang or a bang bang bang on hard launch as its roasting the tires.Sounds like the G80 is trying to catch

 

Has anyone had theres do this? or any GM techs ran across this?

When you light the tires up the G80/Gov-lock is going to lock up hard. That's the bang you're hearing.

Your in a truck, not a drag car. The g80 is a good locking diff but not good enough to handle hard launches and roasting tires. If you like doing that stuff then you are going to have to get a much beefier rear diff or go find you an 80's camaro for cheap and go give it hell.

You make it sound normal,it should not bang.my 2010 9.5 took a hellava lot more as did the 06 vortec max both boosted

I've had the G80 make noise on two previous trucks, an 09 & 11, but it only did it when I was spinning the tires and trying to turn at low speed. Never made any noise spinning the tires in a straight line.

Mine is only noticeable on loss gravel or wet grass with slow tire spin never heard it while spinning on pavement
