2016 Silverado remote start climate control

If the t-stat was having issues you would have known by now. The ECM watches for a stuck open t-stat, vehicle has to reach 167° with in so many minutes after start up otherwise the ECM will trigger a P0128 code which is for a stuck open t-stat.

I thought about that as well. I also thought about the ventilation system doors not working properly, causing it to pull cold air from outside directly to the cab without heating....

With a tune you can increase the idle speed in cold weather to make it warm up faster. Works nicely.

My diesel did this on it's own. It would be nice if gm programmed it when it's under the freezing Mark to up the idle to 800-1000rpm. I'm only hours away from finding out of they did change the thermostat if it helped there are wrench marks on the bolts and the coolant level is higher than what it was. Seemed to pot it hotter heat right from the get go when I picked it up.

Cold ambient temperature that is below 50°F (10°C):

Mode = Defrost

Temperature = 72°F (+/- 5°F) Example: If the owner had the temperature set to 80°F, the HVAC would be set to 77°F during a remote start. (72°+5°=77°)

Blower = Six bars

Recirculation = Fresh Air

A/C compressor = Only commanded on if conditions allow compressor engagement.

Hot ambient temperature that is above 59°F (15°C):

Mode = Last known settings

Temperature = 72°F (+/- 5°F) Example: If the owner had the temperate set to 80°F, the HVAC would be set to 77°F during a remote start. (72°+5°=77°)

Blower = Last known settings, unless the blower was in the "Off" position. In which case, the blower will be turned to the "Auto" setting.

Recirculation = Recirculation

A/C compressor = On

Mid ambient temperature that is anything between the cold and hot ambient temperature values:

Mode = Last known setting

Temperature = Last known setting(s)

Bloulation = Last known setting

A/C compressor = Last known setting

wer = Last known setting

Recirc

Since when is 59* hot? Why only 8* for mid?

Also, am I to understand that the AC light will be on even though I'm heating the cabin?

Sorry, only had the truck for less than 3 months and could never figure out why the AC light was always on.

We'll after digging around, I did find these instructions. . I will give them a try. Hope this helps someone else.

To set the controls for when you remote start your truck, you have to do the following. When you are in the truck, while its running, hit the power button on the climate controls to turn everything off. The display should now be blank. All you have to do is adjust the tempature (without turning it back on) to your liking. You can also adjust where the air comes out, defrost, floor, vents, ect. Wait until the display turns back off and you are all set. You will know you are doing it corecctly because the power light will not light up while adjusting the remote start settings. If you hit the power button again, you will see you original settings as they were before you turn the heat controls off.

I know this is old, but the above instructions do not work in my 2018 Silverado.

The stupid F'n A/C comes on full blast every time I remote start it. Pisses me off to no end. I love my truck, but HATE how I can remote start the truck on a cool 65 degree morning and get in and the A/C is on full blast.

I usually roll with windows down, so now I drop my windows and all that moisture gets blown back into the cab and fogs my windows up and gets that musty A/C smell.

I just want my A/C to stay OFF if it was OFF when I parked the truck last.

Dealer looked at me like I was stupid, but this "feature" really annoys me.

If its about say 90, I like the auto A/C idea. but when its in the 60's and comes on, complete crap.

And there is no way to adjust it from what I have found.

My 2018 is the same way and it is annoying. On 2016 Ford Escape you can choose automatic which works like our trucks or choose last setting which will remote start with climate control set at your last setting which is nice. I don’t understand why gm would want The a/c coming on on start up. It should at least wait until the truck is warmed up some.

I like the A/C on startup if it’s say above 90 out. But 65 is just stupid.

Ideally id like it to just look at last known settings like I started it with the key.

I can park it with A/C OFF, remote start it and A/C goes full blast, put the key in ignition and it turns back off.

This worked on my 2011 but not on my 17
