Airaid MIT

Just ordered the Airaid MIT and a K&N stock replacement filter. Saved $50-100 over the full CAI which I don't like the open element of the CAI filter due to temperature. Plus I've read here that the stock box does just fine. :)

Can't wait to hear the growl of the 5.3L once I install it!

Once you get in installed, could you post how you like it? I'm thinking of getting the same set up.

thanks.

I have that set up with a green filter. Sounds good at times. Sounds good at lower rpm, then gets oddly quiet past a certion rpm under moderate/normal acc. Under harder acc. it sounds decent.

Will do! I watched the video on the full K&N CAI and loved the roar the 5.3L did at full throttle but I just don't like the idea of an open element. Hopefully this will give me a similar sound.

I have it on my truck. I honestly didn't notice any sound difference, but I already had my Corsa exhaust at that point. For aesthetics though, the MIT looks 100x better in the engine bay.

Just an FYI. After you put a few miles on the MIT, check your intake tube for oil. I had an issue accumulating oil in the intake from the two breathers on the valve covers. Ended up installing a clean side separator, and the issue went away.

Thanks guys! For those with this or similar setups, how about any notice in improved throttle response and slight power gains? I'm not looking to add a CAI or exhaust.

What this with or without a catch can? I installed the MIT and catch can within a week of eachother. I am hoping I can cut down oil in the intake.

I had a catch can before and after. The clean side separator is a totally different piece.

Catch can will keep oil out of the intake manifold. Clean Side separator will keep oil out of the intake tube.

Got it installed. You definitely hear more of a low groan between 2-3k RPM. It seems to accelerate quicker but that is most likely in my head. Engine now sounds like a V8 both out and inside.

I have the same MIT and it does improve throttle response in my opinion. It does sound good and makes the Flowmaster sound even better.
