Grumpy Tooch Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Hey guys. I am looking for a cold air intake kit for 2016 Sierra 2500HD 6.0 gas engine. I couldnt find any posts about this so maybe someone knows something I do not. The only kit I could find was Airaid MXP kit from realtruck.com which turns out their website was incorrect. Airaid confirms they have not made kit for this yet, the one they sent me was up to 2015 and considerably different. All ones i could find were for Duramax. Any info greatly appreciated. I am selling this kit i have if anyone interested. Kit info: AIR202-280 Airaid MXP intake system x/tube and (DRY FILTER, no oil needed)
jwc10400 Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Is the kit you are selling for the 2015? If so, how much?
NewfieZ71 Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Check out afe...I think the part number is 54 74105. It's a closed box filter. There's also a video if an install.

My bad, it does come dry...lol Still would like to hear what you guys have to say, oil or dry

Stihl3500 Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 I own a 2015 3500hd. I put an airaid intake and throttle body spacer on. I will be honest and tell you I'm pretty sure I lost throttle response and power.. It seems to lag alot more. Thinking of putting stock intake back on. Just my thought.

I'm pretty sure its the spacer...lol NOT the intake. Those are proven power adders. Not possible to loose power with it. the spacer on other hand, there are plenty of posts here to read on spacers
Stihl3500 Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Don't waste your money on cold air intake unless you own a diesel
Grumpy Tooch Posted May 13, 2016 Author Posted May 13, 2016 Diesel obviously get twice as much gains but in no way is it a waste in a gas engine. The replacement of the restrictive air box and high flow filter is worth the 10+HP gain IMO.
Stihl3500 Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 That's what it says on the box... No way are you gaining 10hp.
MW2500HD Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 The stock air box/intake works well for these 14+ trucks. Save your money and put in a better filter. I installed 3086k K&N Intake and all it did is add noise. I switched back to a drop in filter and sold the cold air intake.
Grumpy Tooch Posted May 14, 2016 Author Posted May 14, 2016 I guess for the price its worth it to spend it on a tuner. So maybe just get high flow air filter and keep box. But why does the inlet have so many routes and is not direct. What is GM's thinking on that?

All the cold air intake does is make alot of noise.
