Navigating

Bought in late October

Used navagation yesterday only to find roads missing on map

How often are these updated ?

Is there a hack to get the latest upgrade

I found a fm site that wanted $159 for a up grade

On a 7 month old trk?

Good chance the roads that are missing will still be missing on the newest update.

X2.....Just because a road has been in for a few years doesn't necessarily mean it will be on the update unless someone reports the discrepancy. Depends upon how often the local County maps/records they use are revised. My 2016 not only has all the roads in my County, but has all the roads in my development listed even though two are still under construction.

Yep, and the only way to find out is to spend 160.00 or find someone with a newer version and see if the roads are there. My street/house is 4 years old and its not on my garmin with the latest update or my '16 C7.

That someone with a new one should be the nearest dealer. Before considering whether to purchase an update I go to the dealer and find a vehicle with the latest mfg date, check the rev. no. and punch in new roads in the area or where I hope to go. Had to wait through two updates on my '07 Avalanche before it could find my home address.

GM Nav is AWFUL! At least the '14 and '15 had a cool little truck icon. Now it's just a lame arrow.

Word of advise: Never try to use the driving directions. I don't know what type of algorithm they use, but it will send you 50 miles out of the way for no reason, through back roads and small towns.

As I said, AWFUL!

I use Google maps. Up to the minute, up to date, and excellent driving directions every time. As my Mom (who drives a lot) says, "Don't second guess the Google", Lol!

CarPlay/Android Auto??

Thats why I didnt even bother with NAV on this '15, carplay/apple maps working just fine for me. The 500 I saved not buying NAV will buy a new phone in a couple years :)

How did you get Carplay working on a '15? Did you buy the MVI upgrade?

The hardware in the 2014/2015's is different from the 2016's. Right now you can only get Carplay/Android Auto on the 2016's (unless you go to MVI).

And to the OP:

There is no hack for the factory Nav maps. You need to buy the upgrade on a USB stick and it is tied to the VIN so you will not be able to buy "copies" on ebay or anywhere else:

There is a menu choice in settings that changes what type of route you want to compute.

Not as useful as the nav in my parents 2014 suburban (last model) that lets you select the option you want at the time of entry.

All OEM navs suck. I use my phone and Waze when I want to go somewhere. Or if I go where there is no signal, I have Navigon and all maps downloaded on the phone. About 4 gigs of maps and they update 4 times a year.
