Recommended Posts

Just got my first 16 silverado and i was looking into leveling kits and all i could find were spacer kits, are there any torsion key leveling kits for this model or no?

Thanks for any replies!

The electric rack and pinion have nothing to do with "keys". The "keys" are for torsion based front suspensions and the K2 trucks have independent front suspension. You will need to get a spacer or a leveling shock.

Correct. Torsion bars are the front suspension springs that were phased away in half ton's in 07. The 2500HD's and up still use them though.

The 1500s have electronic rack and pinion so no keys, just in the HDs.

The steering gear box, and torsion keys are two totally separate components.

Have a look behind your front tire, you will see a strut assembly. 2007-2016 Silverado 1500 trucks use a coil over strut independent front suspension. HD trucks use a torsion bar IFS. So for leveling kits it would be a lower strut spacer, an upper strut spacer, or one where you'd have to disassemble the strut and space the spring area.

Congratulations on you new truck! Judging by your question, I am assuming you are new to the modification of leveling. There are many helpful discussions on this topic and I suggest you spend time reading and participating in some of them prior to making a decision. I intend to level my truck when I buy new tires and I am glad I chose to wait. I knew nothing about the various leveling/lifting options when I purchased my truck 7 months ago and now I believe I can make a well informed decision and have no regrets!
