Adding a servicable fuel filter

As stated... wondering if anyone has done it. Yes I understand the whole assembly is in the milk jug fuel tank. But for us guys running these trucks a lot of miles per year, and planning for long term ownership a spin-on HD fuel filter on the frame rail makes more sense. Just like my spin-on coolant filter cleaned up the rubbish in the coolant. And the spin-on trans filter cleaned that fluid up down to 10 microns. Just wondering... Would be nice to run a 5 micron full flow serviceable filter. These gas stations are not changing filters, and who knows what the filters are rated for. All I know is in the construction business when you fill up your new clean fuel cell with gas and run a 5 micron filter on the 12V pump.... you collect a lot of trash. So I know that stuff is in my tank and I have no way to clean it out. but the fuel on the job is clean

I work with someone who has 300K miles on a 2003 and has never changed his fuel filter.
