Pic is showing the brightness but I need to adjust the light in the housing because the aim is pointed to the center of my lane .. but once i eventually do this i think theyll definitely look much much better.

My plan is for this weekend so will have pics once I do it.

These Opt7s btw

So you're saying the need to face a little more outward?

Yeah. Idk if i explained well but its definitely noticeable when im in the truck. I still have enough light output but id much rather have them pointed forward than in a criss-cross path.

Assuming this will be as easy as just flipping/rotating the light 180 degrees

I get what you're saying, is the install pretty simple?

Yeah pretty easy plug n play. The only annoying part is having to take out thr filter on the passenger side but that doesnt take too much extra effort.

Only issue i ever face is getting the dang dust cap to line back up n twist on. Lol i swear i struggle for close to 5 min on each side

*Fogs are not Opt7*

Ok so a few questions. Read this thread a few times and the others. There are a ton of different brands and such and picking one is a little tough due to a certain brand is praised and said to be crap. So I'm wondering what fogs you have? I'm like you, not a lot of night driving but want better output and looks. I drove from Mass to Fl and found out just how little light the stock 15 Silverado has. Your headlights ..what brand...do they have the fan? You said you were able to stick everything behind the dust cap but was curious on heat?? Meaning with the DC on will they get too hot and fail? I would want them back on as to not have water be able to get in.

Here are the fogs i bought:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00O8ZNJ2Y/ref=oh_aui_i_d_old_o1_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

output isnt going to be anything super sognificant enough to use them as extra light. If thats what youre looking for then youll prob want to get those rigid lights or something.

The headlights are opt7 and they do have a fan. I have not had any issues with the heat or wires in the dust cap, other members have modded their dust caps with a hole for wires though. But i do turn mine off (DRLs) 95% of the time during the day anyway.

Hey wanted to askvyou also. How are you liking your opt7 low beams. I think im gonna get the dd xml2 for the fogs and saw you had the opt7 lows. Wanted to know how the light output is at night as well as if they have been problem free

I like them ive just been too lazy to adjust the beam, so currently theyre pointing like a / \ (upside down V so theyre aimed directly to the center of my lane). I just havent taken thetime to fix this, other than that i have liked them sonce having them.

When i first ordered, after a month my passenger went out. They diagnosed that i had a bad driver for that sode sent me a new one and havent had a problem since. That was probably last August.

On a 1-10 id give them an 7/8, suffice enough for the little night driving i do. I think that if i ever adjust them the output would definitely put them at an 8 maybe 9.

Quise, I had spoke to someone on fb site headlight junkies and they got the dd xml2 for his fogs. He said the diff between stock and led was amazing. I was thinking of grabbing those as dd has a 20% off for labor day.

When you say they point ^ ; are you able to adjust these headlights left and right? I know we can go up and down but not sure if left and right is possible. Do you feel w the LEDs in the hl you would overdrive them...meaning at a certain speed it would be tough to see things before you reach them?

Just seeing this sorry, i wish i would have been on here to know about that 20% off to get some hi beams.

No i guess we cant adjust left to right, ive been trying to find that answer myself someone on here said no. But im thinking i just need to flip the bulb upside (insert the other way) which ill have to trim one of the tabs just a bit since its a rectangle vs pointed like the others.

I personally can still see good in front of me in the distance. I can always turn on the brights of needed too. But so far i havent had a problem seeing things ahead

    • I've been eyeing an upgrade to my tonneau cover for a bit now.  Intrigued by the BAK MX4 EZ-Lift with the torsion spring and went for the upgrade.  Thoughts and musings during unpacking, install and a few days of usage.   Once my order went into Realtruck, it took about 4 days to ship.  Unfortunately, FedEx Ground destroyed the box and contents and it was unusable upon receipt.  To Realtruck's credit, one email with pictures and an RMA was sent to me to send the first one back, and another unit was shipped out.  It arrived 3 days later, unscathed.   I opened the box and it looked like every other BAK MX4.   Biggest differences are the rails and retaining clamps, and of course the spring attached to the cover itself.     NOTE - if you are upgrading from a MX4 to the EZ-Lift, you will have to replace the rails.  The EZ-Lift rails have a notch cut in them to allow the new style retaining clamps to fit properly.  The new retaining clamps also have 2 knobs/carriage bolts and there are two tracks underneath the front panel. The strap clips are mildly different (more like the Undercover Flex clamps) in that the screws go in from the underside.  Personally I prefer these over the BAK clamps that use the nutserts that are a nuisance to install.  The remainder of the parts in the box (drain tubes, rail clamps, and bumper pads) are standard issue BAK.     I did not replace my front bed seal at the time because it seemed to be in decent shape.   BAK recommends shims on the GM trucks unless you place the clamps on the flanges about 1/3 of the way in from both the front and rear of the bed.  I shimmed the front and the middle, and initially placed the clamps equidistant.  This also turned out to be a mistake, because when I set the cover in place, the new style retaining clamps wouldn't clear the front clamp.   New style clamp inserted in the track:     And the issue which occurred because the front rail clamp was too far forward:     Once I removed the shim from the front of the bed, and slid the clamp back to the front flange, everything cleared fine.     The cover set on the rails without issue and I installed the strap clamps.  After I completed my adjustments, I pulled the pin to activate the torsion spring.  Mistake #3 on my part.  PULL THE PIN AS THE VERY VERY VERY LAST STEP!  The reason is, once you pull the pin, the torsion spring is activated.  If you have to loosen the front clamps and adjust the cover, the front panel will - by virtue of the spring, refuse to lay down.  The only way to get it to lay down so you can reinstall and tighten the clamps is to fully open the panel against the back of the cab, which will then allow the front panel of the cover to lay down and be tightened.  Not a big deal unless you haven't installed the foam pads yet (typically the last step) because minus the foam pads, you will need to place something between the frame of the cover and the back window so it doesn't get scratched.  The next time I install one I will install the foam pads before I pull the pin and activate the spring.   After using it for a few days:   The spring assist is great.  You literally can open it with one hand.  My shoulders aren't getting any younger and this was part of my motivation to swap out. The second panel latches and unlatches itself as you open and close the cover.  Neat in concept, however it took me a minute to get used to closing the cover and not hearing the "latching" sound that would tell me it was locked in place. The paddle handles are a huge upgrade and I wouldn't be surprised to see them become the standard across the Realtruck line.  They effectively eliminate the concern that a thief could coat hanger the cover open and get to the contents in the bed. I'm not sure why the very front panel on my cover has a different finish from the other 3 panels.  I have a request into Realtruck to find out if mine was not manufactured properly or if it was by design.   All in all I'm pleased.  Same level of protection, looks good, keeps stuff mostly dry (they all leak around the tailgate) and easy to install.
