Double Cab Child Seat??

I also own the chicco keyfit 30 seat. That seat fits in with no problems. I would expect that all infant seats with the removable carrying cradle would be similar.

The issue started when my daughter switched to the larger Diono convertible toddler seat. The "back" of that seat is really tall, and when its in the rear-facing orientation, it is tight up to the front passenger headrest.

There are many brands and sizes of child seats. Like others have said, you need to shop around and test some out.

There is a baby store near us that will actually help you try them out in your vehicle before you buy.

My rear facing seat is a bit tight, but it's not really a problem. My wife's car is the family car. My truck just has to get the job done occasionally.

I routinely put 3 car seats in a double cab before I recently traded. Infant seat in the middle of course. It worked better than a lot of midsized cars.

No doubt. I needed a double cab until now* because my garage was too short for a crew cab long box, but the short box didn't fit my ice fishing shanty and later my son's dirt bike.

I hauled my son in multiple car seats, and then my son and his friends.

We did have to pull the front seats up 2-3" when the kids got older, but my wife is 5'7" and I'm 6'5" and our knees were never dug into the dash.

It's for sure not as easy as a crew cab, but if your financial or space needs require this, it's not exactly "Man, we're screwed. Why must we ride in this donkey cart while others have cars?!?" screwed. It's more like, "It would be nice if we had more space, but I've still got more than a lot of mid size cars."

* I bought a house with a deeper garage. (I'm going to keep driving Xcabs though.I think crew cabs look like SUV hybrids and I gave the young man a car, so he hauls himself.)

My wife and I are having a similar issue. We have an 11 month old right now with twins on the way in 7 months. I will likely be taking all three to daycare in my truck daily. We stopped by Buy Buy Baby last weekend to figure the car seat situation out.

Below is what we decided on.

1. Behind driver’s seat: Forward facing Britax Boulevard Clicktight. Our daughter will be 21 months by the time they all 3 go to daycare.

2. Center rear: Britax B-safe 35 with base.

3. Behind passenger’s seat: Britax B-safe 35 with base. If I need additional room, we can use the britax B-safe 35 without the base. I think it gets me an additional 3 inches.

Once the twins are older, they will be rear facing in two more Britax Boulevard Clicktights. The reason we liked the Britax Boulevard clicktights is they allow for lots of adjustment with the base. I tried one other convertible earlier and it reclined too far back. The seat was too horizontal to work with the car seat. There is no recommended method for having it lean further forward.

In the end, I would recommend getting a crew cab if you are expecting to work with child car seats, but I think my double cab will work OK. I could upgrade to a similarly equipped 2016 crew cab std box for about $10,000, but my wife won’t let me.
