Thats great because then it automatically just turns on the marker lights? If I understand correctly. Could possibly connect it to a set of auxiliary lighting.

2016 Sierra in Canada, and headlights cannot be turned off outside of park. I two want control of this for ballast wear, pulling into my driveway, and so I don't blind people pulling into lots/stores ext... just want to turn off headlights, not DRL

Not a hunter so do not get that one. But umm wouldn't you want the truck turned off even if near by so as not to scare away the deer etc?

A running truck or truck lights won't scare a deer or an elk. They hear logger's trucks running all the time, it's when the motor gets shut off they get nervous.

You also want to be able to kill the lights at will so that when you're maneuvering around you don't shine a beacon across an area they aren't used to seeing lights in.

TIL Deer actually like trucks. I mean I cannot blame them but who knew. Guess that explains why the dumb bastages are always running on the road around here.

May not be as simple as removing the spring. It is a momentary switch in the Off position so you need to see the schematic to see what it is controlling e.g. if it is a latching relay, or a flip flop semiconductor a constant voltage in the Off position may heat it up and cause it to burn out.

this worked perfectly and took me 10 minutes. pull the cover off the fuse box and then pull the bezel off around the hdlt sw. unplug it..take the 4 clips on the back of the sw off. lift it out and remove the coiled spring in the corner. snap it back together and problem solved....props to the guy who posted it cuz idk who it was on here but thank you
