Gas EGR delege

Hey guys, I have a 2001 Silverado 2500HD with the GAS 6.0. I just realized it has an EGR system on the passenger side headers...not sure if it has it on the drivers side too but I don't think so. My question is, can I just unbolt this crap and put a block off plate on it? Or if I do that will it screw things up? Thanks

When I did this on a early computer controlled carbureted engine it pinged like hell, even after richening up the main jets a good bit, I also had to back off on the ignition timing. On these these sophisticated computer controlled engines, the knock sensors will pick up any spark knock and back off the ignition timing and the ECM will richen the now lean mixture as necessary. It will likely set a code because the ECM will be telling the EGR valve to do something and it will be AWOL so no feedback.

You can remove the EGR tube and valve and block off both the hole in the intake and manifold / header. If you know someone who has HP tuners or EFI Live they can turn off the EGR system for you so the computer will not try to use it and you will not get a check engine light. This is actually on my to do list for my sierra.
