Tow mirrors

Hey everyone. I am new to the forum and just recently picked up my new 2016 Sierra SLT - Crew Cab. When I get a chance, I will post some pictures of it!

One thing I wanted to do is take the "baby" mirrors off of the truck and replace with the towing mirrors. I talked to the service department at the "stealership" and they quoted $1400 to replace the mirrors. The replacement mirrors would be power but only to adjust the mirror and not power folding like the ones I have now. Has anyone swapped their mirrors and is it better to go with aftermarket so I can get some that fold like the stock ones?

TIA!

The factory power folds are $1400 just the mirrors. You still need both front door harnesses. 23351794 and 23241467 are the mirror numbers. The non power folds are $725 for the chrome, and those are sold as a pair. Its another $250 for door harnesses with either mirror.

you should double check what the dealer is saying by looking at your RPO codes - most of the SLTs off the lot come with powerfolding capability and these would work with the tow mirrors as long as you get the harnesses....

If you have power fold mirrors the factory power fold tow mirrors will work. Like was said above you will need the harnesses. Look in the For Sale section and there is a thread on 2014/ 2015 Power Fold Tow mirrors. The factory mirrors are of good quality. I would go with them.I installed them on my 2015 GMC.

They told me I couldn't do the power folding ones regardless. I was looking at these online and they are much cheaper. http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/gmc/sierra-1500/23241465/2016-year/slt-trim/5-3l-v8-gas-engine/body-cat/outside-mirrors-scat/?part_name=mirror-assy&position=left

If you have an SLT, you just need the proper door harnesses for an SLT truck that came with tow mirrors and then the power fold mirrors themselves. Best ones to get are ones off of an HD truck with the DQS mirrors with gas engine. Do you have memory seats?

So, those mirror numbers above, and then door harnesses 23342716 and 23171564 should do it.

ALL trucks need new door harnesses.

I put aftermarket tow mirrors on my 2015 double cab z71 4x4 silverado a few weeks ago. Power glass and heated. Direct plug and play into the existing harnesses. I think I paid around $225 for them and they're great.

I did have to drill an extra mounting hole in the door. The instructions said I could have just removed the extra stud but as much work as it was to put them on I figured I'd go ahead and mount them securely since they felt pretty heavy.

The biggest problem was re-installing the aggravating door panels, it's really a 2 person job.

Here's a link to the mirrors I bought, I hope it isn't against the rules:
