Still learning this new 16 5.3 as to what is normal. Noticed with the windows down a whistling noise when driving. It is rpm related, Sounds like a super charger whine. Notice it starting about 2000 rpm in 2nd gear and beyond. When I rev the engine in the driveway I don't hear it. Thoughts? Normal noise or something to have checked out?

I have a 2016 as well and noticed it. Asked the service department about it and checked out some of these forums. Turns out it is caused by the valve flap thing just behind the muffler. It is there to prevent the drone noise when in 4 cyl. It sounds weird, but you can get a hose clamp and turn the valve open and clamp it. Gets rid of the whistle but sounds a bit funny. Also heard of people doing muffler delete and just cutting out all the way past the valve and removing it as well. Either way, it's a normal sound.

Thanks for the info. I had a hunch that was something to do with it. I notice it most when I have the rear slider open. With the truck camper shell on it really reflects the sound from under the middle of the truck up through the open window.

Makes sense. It is the most open when accelerating quickly, and mainly accelerates in V8. It is closed for the most part when in V4, and that's how it prevents the drone noise. To make sure I was telling you correctly, I asked my buddy who works at a Chevy dealer. He confirmed what I have seen on here and relayed to you.

The question I have though is if there is a whistle on 2014s or 2015s. I had a 2014 and can't remember a whistle, but I also had exhaust installed within a month of buying.
