HD radio. Huh?

I've read and have a very basic understanding of the concept. Can someone give a real clear instruction on how I might check it out, which will allow me to decide if there's any use to me?

 

Do any of you use it? I pay for Sirius/XM.

Hd radio is free if your radio is hd ready. It is effectively a digital signal from a local station similar to am or fm just not an analogue signal. You could also compare this to tv and the way they are changing to digital free air signal. Most people have cable or satellite and are unaware that you may be getting a free hd digital tv signal from your local station. If your radio is equipped you will see a little hd appearing next to the station on your display if it's late model say 15 or16

I've never heard of it & was kind of puzzled when I saw it mentioned in the owner's manual. I guess a completely different animal than RDS?
