Rear Gear?

I bought a used 2015 GMC 1500 Denali 4x4 a couple weeks ago and the dealer didn't have a detailed sticker listing all of the options. I'm wondering what rear end gear I have; is there a way to look it up by VIN? I'm 99% sure I don't have any extra towing package. The truck is definitely fully stock. Sorry if this is a dumb question. Thanks for any info in advance.

Yeps. GU6 is 3.42 gears, GU5 is 3.23 gears. Being a 2015 Denali, if you are 6.2 and 8 speed, you have 3.23 gears, and if you are 5.3 and the 6 speed, you have the 3.42 gears.

This is not always correct. I have the GU6, but not 3.42 gears. If you also have the NHT code (max tow package), your gears may be different. I have 2016 LTZ 5.3 with 8 speed and NHT and 3.73 gears.

Wut...if you have a 5.3 8 speed, you have 3.42 gears GU6 that is why you are labeled on the RPO label with GU6. On an LTZ, NHT with the 5.3 gets the 8 speed gets 3.42 gears.

 

3.73 (RPO code GT4) and 5.3 combo is with the 6 speed auto. This is an LT trim with NHT only deal.

If an option includes a gearing change then the RPO code corresponding to the revised gearing gets printed on the glovebox sticker.

He was asking about Sierra Denali, other models are irrelevant.

 

GU5 3.23 is only ratio available with 6.2L engine (incl. 8-sp trans)

 

GU6 3.42 is only ratio available with 5.3L engine

 

 

You cannot get NHT Max Towing Pkg on a Sierra Denali 1500

Denali has rpo Z95 MagnaRide suspension and NHT is not compatible with that.

Sorry for the confusion and thanks for the clarification. My dealer must have told me wrong.
