to start off YES i read the other thread but did not get an answer based on prior questions. For starters is it safe to drive with this stupid warning going off every few seconds? im taking it in tomorrow night to dealership since i have not even put 3000 miles on the truck but want to know if it is safe to drive until then?

second i have done no hauling, towing, or anything with the connections since ive owned truck. I first noticed it this past weekend it would come on once a day...then sunday it started going off constantly to put when truck was on the alarm was going off. I cleaned rear connections with paper towel and windex sunday night and it was fine until today (tuesday) then it started going off like mad again. Cleaned connections again and nothing changed.

i messed with gain/brake controls and it has gone back away.

What could this be?

also i took a look at what appears to be the module that controls this system located in rear of truck behind bumper...very poor design and open to the elements. Silly GM cutting corners.

I'm taking it in for service September 2nd and I will have them look at it. Did speak to a tech it is nothing that will affect drivability unless hauling. Mine still does this and then I just play with the gain/trailer brake controller and it goes away for a few days. Obviously a temporary solution that avoids it ringing off every second.

Guessing it is something with rear module or a loose wire. I think guy who had truck before me was pretty hard on her

I just took a trip to Bowling Green Kentucky from Pa. and towed a race car out...all the way there and back I keep getting the "Dinging" from the trailing brake being "Disconnected" then "Reconnected" right away! All 800 miles up and back. I replaced the plug on the trailer wiring and was better but still did it.

Could this be the same problem as yours?

I have a 2014 GMC Sierra 4wd that did the same thing for 6 months....off and on, three or more times per week.  It was very frustrating and I check all the threads to see what others were doing to stop the trailer brake warning.   Suggestions included replacing the trailer brake module under the tire, replace the trailer plug/harness,  pull the trailer brake fuse under the hood and reset it, etc.  Finally I found a thread where the owner reported that there is a glitch in the computer program that activates the trailer brake warning IF the DOT 3 brake fluid is the least bit low from the full mark on your master cylinder reservoir.  Mine was down (obviously from normal brake wear when the calipers extend to compensate for pad wear) about 1/2 inch from full.  I topped it off and the problem stopped immediately.   Apparently there is a master cylinder brake fluid pressure sensor to coordinate brake pressure via the trailer brake controller...if not completely full, the pressure is lower and the sensor sounds the alarm.   Anyway, my problem is solved these past two months.....for now :)

I had this same issue come up under warranty at around 34k.  Chevy replaced two modules near the hitch on the truck and that fixed the issue for a few months.  Then it came back after I was past 36k and was constantly flashing the warning on and off every few seconds.  Took it back to Chevy and they said the error code in the logs indicated something was wrong with a 3rd, different module (i have the code written down  on the estimate somewhere) and it would be $200 parts+labor to fix.  I did not go that route.  After putting up with the truck beeping at me for a few weeks after that, I have not had the issue recur in a long time, seemed to resolve itself. Currently at 59k.

I have taken my truck offroad quite a few times so, maybe the offroad driving is to blame.
