Changing mufflers...

I read somewhere that when they changed their muffler, they got better gas mileage.

Does changing the muffler actually give you better gas mileage?

I would think the cost of the muffler and installation would outweigh any gain in savings in gas.

Makes me lower the MPGs because I drive it a little harder..... When I first got my '14 I drove like grandpa for the most part. Had everything from the muffler back removed and had a Flowmaster Super 44 put in I went back to my old driving style.

I have yet seen anything aftermarket to gain MPGs. Manufacturers (especially these days) already do what they can to gain even a tenth of a MPG. An exhaust is mainly for sound and can be made to squeeze a little performance out of a high performance vehicle. But on a daily driver and normal vehicle just a muffler or catback won't gain any performance.

I realized a significant weight savings when I installed an aftermarket cat-back system. The stock muffler was huge and heavy!

Sounds nice tho

It did not translate into 30 mpg however.

Perhaps with a set of headers, high flow cats...
